ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Picture retakes are on September 8th.

JOIN IN!  Interra Credit Union’s RedHawks branch will be open for business starting this Wednesday.  Look for the kiosk in the commons.  Students, faculty, and staff — Do you have an account at Interra?  You can make deposits, withdrawals, payments…and more!  Not an Interra member?  Stop by and learn more.  The RedHawks Branch will be open every Wednesday and Friday, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.  Join IN!

Another great way to support GHS Boys Soccer is to simply eat out.  Take your friends or family out to eat at Culver’s in Goshen and help support boys soccer TODAY.

Super Mileage Club will have a call out meeting tomorrow at 3:40 p.m. in room 8010.  All interested students need to attend this meeting.

Students, if you are driving to school you must get a parking tag.  Officer Johnson will start checking vehicles next week.  Bring your license, current registration, current insurance and $5 to Mrs. Haney, the bookkeeper.  Again, you must get a new parking tag every year!

REMINDER: You can buy the 2016-2017 yearbook online at www.herffjones.com for $45, but the price will increase September 5th.  Get yours today!

Herff Jones will be here during lunch on August 31st and after school that day until 6:00 p.m. to take class ring and senior orders in the commons area.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field.  If you’re interested in learning how to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, you can pick up your required paperwork from Mr. Snyder in the choir office, Mr. Brubaker, Lucas Kauffman, or Mrs. Stealy in the main office.  The paperwork should be turned in to Lucas Kauffman the first time you attend.

 

MEETINGS DURING SRT:

Juniors:  You will meet in the auditorium tomorrow during the 1st session of SRT for a drug education session.  You will report to your SRT first for attendance.

Sophomores:  You will meet in the auditorium tomorrow during the 2nd session of SRT for a drug education session.  You will report to your SRT first for attendance.

The first NHS meeting of the year will be held tomorrow during the 2nd session of SRT in the Main Gym.  See you then!

There will be a Key Club call out meeting tomorrow during the 2nd session of SRT in the cafeteria.  If you are thinking about joining Key Club or would like to know more, plan to attend.  Students cannot be “signed out” for club or team meetings during SRT, so you will need to report to the meeting when the bell rings and attendance will be taken there.

Student Council will meet on Thursday during the 2nd session of SRT in the auditorium.

The German Club will meet on Tuesday, August 30th during the 2nd session of SRT in Whiteman.

The first regular Key Club meeting will be on Thursday, September 1st in the cafeteria during the 2nd session of SRT.  This meeting is for current and new Key Club members.

 

SPORTS SCORES:

The Goshen RedHawks beat the Fairfield Falcons, 28-14, Friday night on Foreman Field.

The boys tennis team went 2-0 in the Goshen Round Robin that was suspended for rain before completion.  Goshen did not drop a set, 11 different players got varsity matches and the trio of Hugh Birky, Nathanael Wertz and Diego Torres each went 2-0 on the day.

The boys cross country team finished 3rd at the ECA Hokum-Karem.  Jason Barahona and Zach Oyer paced the RedHawks placing 8th, Sergei Culp and Irving Suarez 10th, Jonathon Snyder and Angel Arreola 11th and Brian Crain and Ben Sommers 15th.

The girls cross country team finished 4th at the ECA Hokum-Karem.  Kirsten Graves and Ariana Perez-Diener paced the RedHawks with 6th place, Brandi Smith and Yadira Sanchez 12th, Persis Wade and Julie Walton Clark 14th and Elena Meyer-Reimer and Hannah Scott 15th.

The girls varsity volleyball team lost to New Prairie 0-2 and to Hanover Central 0-2.  They defeated South Bend Clay 2-0 and Kankakee Valley 2-0.

 

IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:

The boys JV and varsity tennis teams will host Elkhart Central at 5:00 p.m.

The girls JV and varsity golf teams will host Wawasee at 5:00 p.m.

The girls JV and varsity soccer teams will play at Elkhart Memorial.  JV starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by varsity at 7:15 p.m.

The boys JV football team will compete at Fairfield at 6:00 p.m.
