Goshen Alternative Program?

The mission at the Goshen Alternative Program (G.A.P) is to create an environment of learning and living that can meet and support the changing needs of all students.

Students in grades 6-12 from Goshen, Fairfield, Jimtown, and Northridge attend G.A.P. and find a place that fulfills their unique learning needs and flexibility that suits their schedule.  Our staff is highly skilled in providing instruction while understanding the unique needs of each student.  The students learn at their own pace using an online platform called Edmentum. Their achievements are based on how hard they push themselves with encouragement from their instructors to stay on pace for graduation.

G.A.P strives to meet every student where they are, so we have created three Campuses.  Our counselor will work with students and parents to determine which campus is the best fit.

The Goshen Alternative Program's structure leads us to build more authentic and deeper relationships with pursuing students and their families.  We are creating a space where success can be felt, leading to more sustainable achievement and connection in their own success.  G.A.P prioritizes receiving a diploma for all its students.  We believe that allowing students to choose their own path and getting family buy-in empowers their process.

All students attending GAP must meet all the same graduation requirements as students attending Goshen High School.  Our students have access to many different options that will allow them to find success as they move through their high school careers and into the workspace.

What is the process of enrolling at G.A.P?
  1. Register your student as a Goshen Community Schools student at the GCS Central Office located at 613 E. Purl Street. You may do this online or in person.  More information can be found here.
  2. Depending on your student’s grade level (6-12), they will be assigned to the appropriate school such as Goshen High School, Goshen Junior High School, or Goshen Intermediate School.
  3. After registration, you and your student will meet with the school counselor to decide on the correct placement.
  4. If G.A.P. is the right place for your student, they will be assigned there.  The staff at G.A.P. will reach out to set up an intake meeting.
  5. Complete your intake meeting where you and your student will meet the administrator and teacher.
  6. Start school.

Can anyone register and come to G.A.P.?

All students must first enroll in Goshen schools to make sure that this is the right placement.

If my student has been expelled in another district, can they come to G.A.P.?

The short answer is no. Goshen Community Schools will honor all expulsions from other schools. After the expulsion time has expired, your student may enroll with Goshen Schools and go through the process of entrance into G.A.P.

Can my student work virtually with G.A.P.?

Yes, we have a very supportive virtual environment.
