ANNOUNCEMENTS:
To Mr. Kingsley’s construction students from last spring: If you left a project in the construction lab, you need to pick it up by Friday, September 11, or it will be repurposed! Please communicate with Mr. Kingsley if you have questions.
It’s that time of year again! The Women’s soccer team is selling pies made by Dan’s Pies from North Webster Indiana. If you would like to buy one feel free to find a soccer player or send an email to either Coach Hulbert or Coach Bontreger! The last day that we will be selling pies is September 23 which is a Wednesday. The delivery of the pies will be October 7. Thanks for supporting your Lady soccer Red Hawks!

GCS needs every middle and high school student to have a daily self-assessment agreement on file, signed by a parent or guardian. These can be filled out and emailed to wswallow@goshenschools.org or kbeck@goshenschools.org. They can also be printed and sent in to GMS or GHS.

Sports Scores:
- Girls JV Volleyball competed against Wawasee last night losing 0-2; 15-25 and 14-25.
- Girls Varsity volleyball also competed against Wawasee winning 3-1; 24-26,25-14,25-18,25-22. Kathryn Detweiler led Goshen with 14 kills, Brynn Shoup-Hill 11 and Megan Gallagher 7. Megan Gallagher had 40 assists. Janiece Herrera had 10 digs followed by Sarah Harmelink 9 and Brooklyn Collins 9.
- The boys tennis team lost a very close 2-3 match to Northwood on Thursday night. It came down to 2 different 3-setters at the doubles positions and Northwood was able to clinch them both by a narrow margin. Carlos Lichty at 2 Singles and Moses Sawatzky at 3 Singles scored points for the varsity. The JV improved to 7-1 with a strong 10-2 win. Isaac Stahly led the way at 1 Singles, winning 6-0, 6-3. Joel Byler & Myles Mclaughlin followed at 1 Doubles, winning 6-1, 7-5.
- The Girls Varsity Soccer team lost 5-1 to Plymouth. Maddie Swallow scored the Redhawk goal, assisted by Alessandra Lozano. The team is now 4-4 overall and 2-3 in conference.
- The JV Girls Soccer team tied Plymouth 0-0. The teams overall record is now 3-4-1 and the conference record is 2-2-1.
- The cross country teams defeat Bremen and Bethany. The girls defeated Bremen 25-34 and Bethany 19-44. Sophia Yordy led the team as the overall champion followed by Sophia Koshmider 4th, Mara Schrock 7th, Nataly Esqueda 8th, Jackie Sixtos 9th, Kassidy Bestul 10th and Rylee Weishaupt 11th. The boys defeated Bremen 15-50 and Bethany 15-49. Drew Hogan led the team as the overall champion followed by Cole Johnston 2nd, Tommy Claxton 3rd, Ryan Diaz 4th, Tyler Wiese 5th, Oliver Biek 6th and Adrian Mora 8th.
- Thursday night the Goshen RedHawks football C team took on the Mishawaka Cavemen at Mishawaka High School. The RedHawks lost 24-0. Leading the offense was Payton Bontrager. He had 7 passes completed for 85 yards. Leading the defense for the RedHawks was Ryan Eldridge and Hampton Rivera. Both of them had 11 tackles.
In Sports Action Today:
- The boys JV and Varsity tennis teams will compete against South Bend St. Joseph’s High School at South Bend starting at 5:00PM.
On Saturday:
- The girls Varsity golf teams will compete in the NLC Championship at South Shore Golf Course in Syracuse starting at 8:00AM.
- The boys and girls JV and Varsity cross country teams will race in the Minutemen Classic at Ox Bow Park starting at 9:00AM.
- The boys JV and Varsity soccer teams will compete in the Penn Tournament at Penn High School. The JV game starts at 9:00AM. The Varsity to follow at 11:00AM.
- The boys JV tennis team will complete in the Plymouth Invitational at Plymouth High School starting at 9:00AM.
- The boys Varsity tennis team will compete against East Noble High School at GMS starting at 10:00AM.
- The girls Varsity soccer team will compete against Westview High School at GHS starting at 10:00AM.
CANCELLATIONS:
The home football game with Northwood, scheduled to be played on Friday, September 11, 2020, is canceled. The JV Northwood game scheduled to be played Saturday, September 12 is postponed. The rescheduled date will be released at a later time.

This email is to inform you that starting on Monday, September 14th there will be softball workouts for all players who are not participating in a Fall Sport. We are now going on Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:00-6:30. On Mondays will are at Shanklin Park and on Wednesdays we are at the warehouse. Please follow me on twitter (@SoftballRedhawk) for the most up to date things with softball. You must have all your athletic forms completed and given to Jan Schrock before attending these workouts.
All boys not currently in a Fall Sport who are interested in playing basketball this year are welcome to start attending workouts on Tuesday, September 8, from 3:45-5:30 PM in the Main Gym. See Coach Wohlford in room 1515 with any questions. To attend you must have all paperwork submitted to the Athletic Office. See Mrs. Schrock or Mr. Miller for help.
All girls not currently in a Fall Sport who are interested in playing basketball this year are welcome to start attending workouts starting next week on Tuesday, September 8, from 4:00-6:00 PM in Whiteman Gym. See Coach Hill in the Weight Room (rm 1810) for a schedule. To attend you must have all paperwork submitted to the Athletic Office. See Mrs. Schrock or Mr. Miller to turn in paperwork or for paperwork help. Go RedHawks!!
