IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week:  All schools have their rivalry games.  What teams on your schedule would you consider to be a rival?  Do they look at you as a rival?  Rival games draw bigger crowds and more excitement.  That means more exposure and more eyes on every moment of the game.  Sometimes under the spotlight tempers fly and athletes do things out of their character.  Are you capable of keeping your cool and composure during tense moments?  The next time you are in a big game (or really any game at all), take time before the game to reflect on how you will react if tempers escalate and the game gets rough and out of control.  Will you keep your composure, regardless of what others do?  Don’t let your hard work and reputation slip during those big moments!
