Regarding The Recent Threat To Schools

Goshen High School Posted on April 10, 2013 by rfransenApril 10, 2013

A note from Superintendent Diane Woodworth

As many of you have heard, there has been an anonymous threat to schools in Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties. At first we were told that this only pertained to Elkhart Community Schools in Elkhart County, but have since been informed that it might have been for the entire county.  The anonymous threat stated that this incident was going to occur on April 15, 2013.  Notification was made to the police agencies in Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties at the time the information was received. Therefore, the Goshen Police Department will have more of a presence in the areas around our schools in the days preceding the 15th and after the 15th as well. Don’t be surprised if you see a police car in school parking lots. We believe that it is important that we do not overreact to the threat, especially since it was not directed at GCS.  School safety is a top priority at GCS and our staff have been instructed to review safe school practices, be vigilant, and to report anything they think might be a concern.
