GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2016                                

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Picture retakes are on September 8th.

All junior student athletes should see Mr. Kissinger to sign up for the Be the Best Leadership Program that will take place on Tuesday, August 31st during 2nd period and SRT in the auditorium.

Are you a junior or senior who is overwhelmed by the college process or doesn’t have any plans after high school?  If you’ll be the first in your family to go to college, join Ms. Gomez (our new College Prep Coach) on Wednesday, August 31st at 3:40 p.m. in the cafeteria for information on college readiness and preparation.  Ms. Gomez is prepared to help you apply for schools and scholarships, understand FAFSA and financial aid, find schools that have your major or career interest, and guide and support you along the way.

JOIN IN!  The Interra Credit Union RedHawks Branch opens TODAY!  Located in the Commons, the kiosk is in operation from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Students, faculty and staff — Stop by today and Friday to register for door prizes and to learn more about the services available to you.  Then, plan to participate in this year’s grand opening celebration on Friday where you’ll have a chance to spin the WHEEL OF SUPRISES. JOIN IN!

Students, if you are driving to school you must get a parking tag.  Officer Johnson will start checking vehicles this week.  Bring your license, current registration, current insurance and $5 to Mrs. Haney, the bookkeeper.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field.  If you’re interested in learning how to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, you can pick up your required paperwork from Mr. Snyder in the choir office, Mr. Brubaker, Lucas Kauffman, or Mrs. Stealy in the main office.  The paperwork should be turned in to Lucas Kauffman the first time you attend.

 

MEETINGS DURING SRT:

Student Council will meet tomorrow during the 2nd session of SRT in the auditorium.

The German Club will meet on Tuesday, August 30th during the 2nd session of SRT in Whiteman.

The first French Club meeting for the 2016-17 school year will be held on Tuesday, August 30th during the 2nd session of SRT in room 2430.

The first regular Key Club meeting will be on Thursday, September 1st in the cafeteria during the 2nd session of SRT.  This meeting is for current and new Key Club members.

 

SPORTS SCORES:

The girls freshman volleyball team lost to New Prairie 25-20 and to Concord 25-16.

The girls JV volleyball team defeated South Bend Riley 2-1.

The girls varsity volleyball team defeated South Bend Riley 3-0.

The boys varsity soccer team defeated Westview 4-0.  Goshen Goal Scorers: Manny Castillo (2), Lucas Bontreger and Junior Argueta.  Goshen Assists: Flavio Cruz, Marcos Hernandez, Ciro Agular and Juan Castaneda.

The boys JV soccer team defeated Westview 3-0.  Goshen Goal Scorers: Kevin Cruz, Cruz Garcia and Emylio Romo.  Goshen Assists: Emylio Romo and Eduardo Rodriguez.

 

IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:

The girls JV and varsity golf teams will play at Christiana Creek at 4:30 p.m. vs. Elkhart Central and Mishawaka Marian.  Good luck ladies!
