Do you want to get involved at school? The theater department might be good for you! Drama Club is a chance to act with upperclassman, teachers, and special guests with first-hand experience! The Drama Club will host its 2018-2019 call-out meeting on TOMORROW in the auditorium after school. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Long in room 1400 or see senior Danielle Horn.
Are you looking for some RedHawk soccer apparel? The girls soccer program is offering a great selection of shirts THIS week. Pick up an order form outside the athletic office. All orders and payment are due to Mr. Graber by Friday.
After school, it is expected that all students exit the building by 3:50 p.m. If you have an after school activity, you should report to the sponsor’s room responsible for that activity by 3:50 p.m. You are not to remain in the hallways or commons after 3:50 p.m. Thank you for your cooperation with this request.

Thanks for all your support of our GHS athletic teams and your classmates this first week of the season! Don’t forget to pick up your activity cards in the bookkeeper’s office for $40 and that will be your pass into all GHS regular season home games. You can also purchase a five game pass directly from the athletic office for $20 to be used at any sport, except football and boys basketball. As we offered with the football scrimmage, B soccer, and volleyball, we are going to have two games this week with FREE admission if you show your school ID. TOMORROW, the girls soccer team has their first home match vs. Mishawaka Marian. On Saturday, the JV football team opens their season with a 10:00 a.m. game vs. Elkhart Central. Your student ID will gain you free admission, even if you do not yet have an activity card, so come out and cheer on your classmates and meet up with friends. Starting next week, all football, soccer, and volleyball will charge admission. Go Big Red!
Any student driving needs to have a parking tag. You can get this through Mrs. Haney in the Bookkeeper’s office. You need to have a valid license, registration, proof of insurance and $5. OJ will start tagging vehicles without parking permits after August 31st, so DON’T delay!
The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is now available in Guidance. You must be a first generation college student (neither parent graduated from college), have a GPA over 3.5, demonstrate significant school and community involvement, have plans on attending college in Indiana, and you must apply by September 7th, 2018. See Mrs. Villalobos in Guidance.
Anyone interested in playing baseball this school year should stop by Mr. JJ DuBois’ classroom in room 1090 to pick up a fall calendar and information about the upcoming season.

Attention ceramics students from spring semester last school year: Please pick up your work on the back porch of the ceramics room in 1450. There are many very nice pieces that you probably would want to have. We will be getting rid of them if you don’t get them by THIS week. It would be a lovely gift to someone if you don’t want them!
WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.
YOU MUST BE STAYING AFTER SCHOOL FOR SOMETHING TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS – The GHS cafeteria is offering free after school snacks every day after school. This program is for any student who is staying after school. All student-athletes, club members, music participants, drama participants, after school homework help kids, etc. are strongly encouraged to stop by the cafeteria after school and take advantage of this generous opportunity. Students just need to show their ID and they can grab a healthy snack to go that will hold them over during their after school activities until dinner. The cafeteria will stay open until 3:55 p.m. to hand out the snacks. All students picking up the healthy snack after school will need to eat their snack in the cafeteria. We appreciate your cooperation with this adjustment that is mandated by the state of Indiana in order to continue this program.
If you are a student that leaves the building at any time during normal school hours then you must have a sticker on your ID if it’s for a class (PACT, Building Trades, EACC, Merit, shortened schedules, Red Zone, internship, yearbook, etc.) that indicates that or a blue pass from the office indicating that you have permission to leave. Building Trades, EACC and Red Zone students are also required to sign out at the Welcome Center before leaving. You can get this sticker in the main office from Mrs. Wolfe or Mrs. Kuiper.

Just a reminder that if you are coming to see Ms. Tovar you need to check in with the staff in the main office and fill out a request to see her. She will send a white pass for you as she has time. Please do not cut through the nurse’s office to get to her. You need to enter through the main office.
MEETINGS DURING SRT:
The mandatory drug education sessions for the Goshen Community School Random Drug Testing policy will be held during SRT’s this week. TOMORROW, all sophomores are to report to SRT first for attendance. After attendance and the ten minutes of checking announcements and email, sophomore SRT classes will report to the auditorium for 1st session with their SRT. Students should bring a writing utensil. Juniors will report to the auditorium at the end of the 1st session of SRT. Juniors do not need to go back to SRT after 1st session if they were assigned to another room. You should just meet up with your SRT class in the auditorium at the start of 2nd session.
Boys basketball will have a callout meeting for boys not currently in a fall sport, on Tuesday, August 28th during the 2nd session of SRT in Whiteman Gym.
SPORTS SCORES:
Girls varsity golf competed against Concord and Elkhart Memorial at Maplecrest Country Club. The ladies were led by Cat Hoover who shot a career-best 52. Goshen finished ahead of Elkhart Memorial by four strokes but fell short against Concord. Goshen is back in action Thursday at McCormick Creek against Northwood and Warsaw.
Boys varsity soccer traveled to Westview and beat the Warriors 5-1. Goals for Goshen: Max Flores (2), Fernando Quevedo, Diego Romo and Ricardo Vargas. Assists for Goshen: Ciro Aguilar, Fernando Quevedo and Kevin Cruz. Goshen’s record is now 3-0. The team will travel to Elkhart Memorial on Thursday.
Girls volleyball made a clean sweep at South Bend Riley winning the JV match 2-0 followed by varsity winning 3-0. Top performers for the varsity were:

Boys JV soccer beat Westview 5-0. Goshen goal scorers: Carlos Casteneda (2), Johan Martinez, Bryan Landin, and Isaac Daniels. Assists: Manith Kamalakanth, Arturo Hernandez-Barrera, and Moises Gutierrez. Goshen’s season record is now 3-0 and their conference record is 0-0.
