Call Out meeting for any girl interested in playing basketball this year will take place on August 30th in Whiteman gym during second session of SRT. Potential athletes will receive a Fall practice calendar and tryout information at the meeting.  Do you have your physical?  If not before you are able to start practices you must have a physical form on file with Athletics.

The first drama club meeting of the year is from 3:45-5:00 in the GHS auditorium tomorrow, August 19th!  Anyone is welcome and no previous acting or stage experience is necessary. We’ll talk about the club’s events, get to know each other, and discuss fall play auditions! Please email Ms. Pobocik (ppobocik@goshenschools.org) if you have any questions. If you are driving and parking in the school parking lot you need to see the bookkeeper in the main office to purchase a parking permit. In order to get one you will need to bring in proof of insurance, license and registration, and $5.00.

If you stay after school for the after school snacks they MUST be eaten in the cafeteria. They cannot leave the room.

SPORTS:
This Thursday will be free admission night at the first home volleyball match.  All GHS students who show their current year student ID will be admitted free to these contests.  Come and cheer on your classmates and get loud and proud!

This Thursday night is staff night at the Goshen Cross Country Invitational at Shanklin Park.  We would love to have all staff come down to Shanklin to watch the team in their season opener at 6 PM.  Team members will be given invitations from their coaches on Monday to invite you on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Students, you are always welcome at CC meets, too.  Play at Tommy’s Kid Castle, watch the RedHawk harriers compete, and then head out to volleyball for the free student night in the main gym.  What a night!  (don’t forget the homework)

Goshen fall sport competitions begin this week and there are currently no Covid related restrictions on attendance.  We want to welcome you back and highlight a few events this week that will have no admission cost.

Students, the best deal for admission to GHS athletic contests is the $40 GHS student athletic pass.  If you attend all 5 home football games, that will cost you $30 and each other event costs $5/event.  If you plan to attend 8-10 events this year, it will save you money.   You can purchase a sticker to go on your ID for $40 cash with the bookkeeper and you just show your ID for admission.  We are also offering a digital route and you would purchase your school your pass by going to goshenathletics.com and clicking on the Ticket Spicket icon.  You would pay for that online and your ticket would always be accessible via your smartphone.  There is a $2 service fee on that so it would cost you $42 instead of the $40 if you want to use your ID card instead.

The Varsity girls volleyball team defeated Bremen HS in 3 sets.

Goshen Varsity Girls Soccer Team beat Mishawaka 9-0 at home. Miriam Ruiz Sanchez, Andrea Diaz, and Isabel Flores Cruz each scored two goals. Caylin Martinez, Natalie May, and Kennedy Yordy each scored one goal. Alessandra Lozano Gomez had two assists. Melanie Herrera, Yulissa Gallegos, Natalie May, Caylin Martinez, and Naomi Schlegel each had one assist. Abril Diaz and Meggy VanHooser both had 3 saves in goal. Goshen is 1-0 in the NLC and 1-0 overall. They play at home on Thursday vs. Elkhart.
The Goshen Girls JV team won 8-1 over Mishawaka. Kimberly Coronado scored two goals, Daniela Romo, Ximena Guzman, Paola Gomez, Grace Kercher, Arely Alvarez, Adamaris Veloz each scored goals for Goshen

The short-handed RedHawks lost their season opener in heart-breaking fashion in the form of a 2-3 decision to West Noble. The match included 3 tiebreakers and 2 3-setters. Moses Sawatzky overcame a 2-5 deficit in the 1st set tiebreaker at #1 Singles to come back and win in straight sets. Isaac Stahly scored the other point at #2 Singles with a hard-fought win in straight sets. On the JV side, the RedHawks won convincingly by a score of 7-1. Kaden Priebe, Blaine Miller, Erich Schramm, Jacob Murphy, Tyler Scott, Lincoln Fisher, and Crosby Poling Braun won their matches.
