GHS Announcements for Tuesday, May 11th, 2021

Summer School Registration is open now until May 14th. All summer classes will be offered in-person either at GHS or Merit Learning Center. There will be on APEX and teacher-led courses available, as well as PE. There will be no options to complete classes virtually from home.
Students interested in completing a class this summer should contact their counselor to get more information or follow the steps on the 2021 GHS/Merit Summer School information page to get access to the Summer School Enrollment form.
Cap and gown delivery is scheduled for today, May 11th. Jostens will be here for both sessions of SRT, so if a student is assigned one session, they should go to pick up materials at the beginning of the other session. For students who are not assigned, SRTS should go down to the athletic concession area at the following time:
10:00 – all career center students, juniors graduating early, students assigned both sessions
10:10- B Kaufman, Hershberger, C Wohlford/Weaver
10:20- C Dubash, Miller Biddle, Sommers
10:30- Moist, Krabill, Stahly

*** ROA students can come anytime during SRT. If you are unable to make it during that time, Mrs. Clark will have the leftovers.
It is time for the annual GHS Prom Dress Drive. The purpose of this drive is to provide free dresses for students who want to go to the prom but may be in financial need. We have several dresses in various styles and sizes to choose from. If you are in need of a prom dress or if you wish to donate a gently used dress, please contact Mrs. Hershberger in Room 3260 (rrhershberger@staff.goshenschools.org) or Mrs. Shakley in Room 2255 (tshakley@staff.goshenschools.org). You may also email or ask one of your teachers to help you get in contact with one of us.
SPORTS:
Spring sports have started and the fan attendance plan is by venue. At track & field at Foreman Field, tennis, golf, JV baseball at the Little League and V/JV softball at Shanklin, there are no capacity limits but all Covid protocols must be followed to attend, including wearing a face covering at all times. For baseball played at Phend Field, we do have to restrict to 4 fans/rostered player.
The Indiana All-Stars vs Junior All Stars game will be played at Brownsburg High School on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. The doors will open at 5:00 PM with the girls game starting at 6:00 PM. Please enter Door 14. Tickets are $8.00 and can be purchase athttps://indallstar.eventbrite.com/. There will be no tickets sold at the door and only available online in advanced.
The 2021 Indiana vs Kentucky All Star Basketball Game will be played at the Owensboro Sportscenter in Owensboro, Kentucky on Friday, June 11, 2021. The doors will open at TBD with the girls game starting at TBD. Tickets information will be available at a later date.
The 2021 Indiana vs Kentucky All Star Basketball Game will be played at the Southport Fieldhouse on Saturday, June 12, 2021. The doors will open at 4:00 PM with the girls game starting at 5:00 PM. For any girl interested in playing girls basketball for next school year; there will be a callout meeting during 2nd session of SRT in room 1610 on May 11th. IF you are unable to attend the meeting please email Coach Hill at shill@goshenshools.org for information.
SPORTS RESULTS:
The RedHawks JV fought from behind after allowing four runs in the first two innings against Westview on Saturday afternoon before eventually losing 8-4. Goshen played a clean game defensively with zero errors and made Westview earn their victory. RedHawk base hits came from Yabi Kurtz, Damian Castillo, and Myles McLaughlin. Kurtz started the game on the mound and Fernando Figueroa pitched five solid innings in relief, striking out seven.
The RedHawks JV and C teams have a busy week coming up (six games in six days)! Monday: Goshen JV plays vs. Mishawaka at Goshen Little League @ 5:30pm. Tuesday: Goshen C team plays at Mishawaka’s Baker Park @ 5:30pm. Wednesday: Goshen JV travels to Plymouth for a 5:30 game. Friday: Goshen JV hosts Concord at Goshen Little League @ 5:00pm. Saturday: Goshen travels to Angola for a double-header, with JV playing in Game 1 @ 9:00am and C team playing in Game 2 at approx. 11:00am.
The RedHawks C-team plays at Mishawaka on Tuesday beginning at 5:30pm. The RedHawks JV visit Plymouth on Wednesday, also beginning at 5:30pm.
The game was scoreless into the 5th when the Cavemen put 3 runs on the board to open up the scoring. They tacked on another run in the top of the 7th. The RedHawks had their chances to score in the bottom of the 7th. With the score at 4-1 and the bases loaded with nobody out, the next 3 RedHawk batters all struck out to end the game.
Colin Turner led the RedHawk offense with 2 hits and scored the lone run. Ezequiel Moreno drove in Turner when he was hit by a pitch in the 7th.
The RedHawks have Tuesday off and are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Plymouth. That game is slated to start at 5:30pm.
The Goshen RedHawks varsity softball team watched the game slip away early and could not recover in a 10-2 loss to Mishawaka on Monday in game 1 of a double header. Liz Ramirez took the loss in the circle. Tyra Marcum and Olivia Koshmider collected 2 hits a piece for Goshen.
The Goshen varsity softball team lost to Mishawaka in game 2 of the double header by a score of 7-2. The game was tied at 0-0 until the 4th inning when the Cavemen scored 5 runs. Tyra Marcum took the loss and lasted 4 innings. Kareena Ulfig closed out the game going 3 innings and allowed 0 runs. Jenna Roll had 2 hits while Marcum, Liz Ramirez , and Olivia Koshmider all had doubles in the game. Goshen is in action again on Wednesday for a 5:30 contest against Plymouth.
IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:
The boys and girls Varsity track teams will compete for the NLC Championship today at Warsaw HS starting at 5pm
The boys JV and Varsity Golf teams will play both Plymouth and Warsaw at Black Squirrel Golf Course starting at 5:30pm
The boys JV baseball team will play Mishawaka HS at Baker Parker starting at 5:30pm
