GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR TUESDAY, AUGUST 18, 2015
REMINDER: Students, you are expected to stay in the commons area each morning until 7:45 a.m.
The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field. If you’re interested in learning how to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, you can pick up your required paperwork from Mr. Snyder in the choir office, Lucas Kauffman, or in the main office. The paperwork should be turned in the first time you attend.
The Goshen High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will meet for the first time tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. in room 8030 (Mr. Krebs’s room). If you have any questions about FCA please stop by and see Mr. Krebs or Mr. Hutcherson.
Super Mileage Club Purpose: To develop super mileage cars that will travel as far as possible on one gallon of fuel. Members will assist Engineering Design and Development students with the design and construction of vehicles and assist with other technology and maintenance. The first meeting is on September 8th from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. in room 8010. See Mr. Holsopple for further details.
The Apex Lab in room 1060 is open from 7:15-8:15 a.m. Tuesday-Friday and 3:45-5:45 p.m. Monday-Thursday over the next two weeks for anyone needing to finish up work from this summer or get ahead this fall. Contact Mr. Wolf for more information. If your Apex summer course is not completed by August 28th your incomplete will turn into a F.
Please remember that if you drive to school you need to get a parking permit. You have until Friday to get this taken care of. You will need a valid license, proof of valid insurance and valid registration. The cost is $5.00 and you can see Mrs. Haney in the bookkeeper’s office to get this taken care of.
Line 1 in the cafeteria will now be cashless. This means you will need money on your account to purchase food in that line. You will be able to deposit money in the mornings or online. Starting next Monday line two will also be cashless.
The Goshen Public Library doesn’t just lend books! We also offer FREE activities for young adults. Stop in on Thursdays after school from 4:00-6:00 p.m. to hang out, study, find an independent reading book, play a board game, color, or just chillax at the teen café! And, of course, we’ll have hot chocolate and coffee. Thursday is our Pages & Popcorn club from 5:30-8:00 p.m. We’ll talk about the book Insurgent and watch the movie. The first five people to sign up will get a free copy of the book! Looking for something to do on Friday night? At Nerd’s Night Out, bring your nerd herd for an epic battle at our Geek-Out Trivia Tournament from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Food for all and prizes for the winners! This Thursday is the volleyball home opener against Westview. The theme for the night is Neon Night. Come decked out in Neon colors to support the volleyball team. The best dressed student will receive a prize which will be handed out after the second game of the Varsity match!

Do you like planning dances, coming up with themes for homecoming, and doing fundraisers? Are you creative and have lots of fun ideas? Why don’t you think about joining student council? We will meet for the first time Thursday, August 27th during the 2nd session of SRT in the auditorium. If you are interested in joining please contact Mrs. Pierce in the guidance office!
Goshen boys tennis defeated Mishawaka last night. Hudson Kay, Evan Beck, and the doubles team of Hugh Birky and Jacob Grewe all won with double bagels, while Luke Rush and Logan Troyer dropped only a single game. Great job!
IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:
The boys JV and varsity tennis teams will compete at West Noble at 4:45 p.m.
The girls JV and varsity soccer teams will host Elkhart Memorial. The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game begins at 7:15 p.m.
The girls JV and varsity volleyball teams will compete at Bremen. The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game begins at 7:00 p.m.
