SPORTS NEWS:
- Homecoming Week is 10/11 – 10/15 and will culminate Friday night with the home football game against Wawasee. That game will be free for all GHS students who show their ID and is being sponsored by Interra!
- The boys and girls cross country team will compete in the Sectional meet this Saturday, 10/9, at ox Bow Park. There is a $5 admission fee for this meet. Come see these awesome kids compete.
IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:
- The girls Varsity soccer team will face Elkhart HS in the Sectional Semifinals at Northridge HS starting at 7pm
- The Freshman, JV, and Varsity girls volleyball teams will be playing against Elkhart HS at home. The Freshman and JV teams will play at 6pm and the Varsity will play at 7:30pm
SPORTS RESULTS:
- The boys tennis team’s season ended in the Regional final with a 1-4 loss to #16-ranked Westview. The #1 Doubles pair of Carter Schmucker and Joel Byler are advancing in the Individual Sectional bracket, with their next match still To Be Determined. The team ends the year with an 18-5 record, winning the conference and sectional championships in the same year for the first time in over 20 years. Moses Sawatzky and Isaac Stahly led the team, each finishing 21-4.
- The GHS RedHawks boys varsity soccer team hosted the third game of the sectionals on Wednesday, October 6 but lost to the Penn Kingsmen by a score of 1-4 to end the season.

The loss brings the varsity’s final overall season record to 7-10-1 overall, and 4-2-1 in the NLC.

- Key Club will meet todayThursday, Oct. 7, Session 2 of SRT in the auditorium.
Key Club is dedicated to serving the community and state as we raise money to support Riley Children’s Hospital and other organizations and as we serve with our time.We have volunteer needs to help here at school, as well as in the community.Please plan to join us next Thursday in the auditorium to see how you can get involved in helping others and to spend time getting to know other club members. We look forward to seeing you Thursday!
- Friday, October 8 the Art Club will be having a Nelson’s BBQ fundraiser in the parking lot of Ares/Eastlake Fitness next to Kroger from 3-7. There will be chicken, pork chops, ribs and pit-tatoes. If you would like to purchase pre-sale tickets, please email Betsy Poling at bpoling@goshenschools.org
Interested in mental health? If so, BC2M (Bring Change 2 Mind) is the club for you. BC2M’s goal is educate students and staff about mental health. We meet the first Thursday of the month during 2nd session of SRT in the classroom of the learning commons. Bring a friend and come see what it’s about. Our next meeting is this Thursday Oct. 7. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. King or Ms. Embriz in the counseling office.

Congratulations to the members of the Crimson Marching Band for winning the class 3A championship at the Bands of America Toledo Regional this past Saturday! The group also took home honors for Best Music, Best General Effect and Best Visual in the preliminary competition and advanced to the Finals that were held that evening. In finals competition Goshen placed 4th overall but was the highest placing 3A band.
The Crimson Marching Band will next compete at the ISSMA Regional in Lafayette in 2 weeks.
