Youth Caucus Club:  Our first meeting is on Monday September 13, first session in the Main Gym during SRT. The Goshen High School Youth Caucus is a club that connects students with the City government. Students are presented with an opportunity to impact the future of Goshen and improve the current state of the city for youth. Students are given a platform to voice their thoughts and gain experience with Youth Advisors in positions across City Gov. and the School Board. It is an amazing opportunity to gain professional experience in the decisions made. We inspire the student body of Goshen High School to be involved and make an impact in the community. We encourage all students to consider joining to represent the diversity of our school and future of Goshen. The Youth Advisors and their positions are: City Council- Adrian Mora, Mayor’s Environmental Advisory Committee- Sophia Yordy, Parks & Recreation Board- Ashley Garcia Coto, Community Relations Commision- Steve Burmudez, Shade Tree Board- Kaite Batson, School Board- Aysia Adkins.

Statewide youth empowerment program that engages, educates, and empowers young leaders, ages 13-18, to live tobacco-free.

WHAT WE DO

Service projects, peer education, advocacy, and leadership experiences that fight against deceptive tobacco marketing techniques targeting youth and minority groups.

Fall Play auditions will take place after school from 3:45-5:30 in the auditorium on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 7 and 8. You do not need to attend both days! Anyone can audition – no prior acting experience is necessary. French Club will have its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 8 during the 2nd session of SRT in room 1535. Any and all French students are welcome to join us for some French games and snacks. Hope to see you there!

Want to help end the stigma of mental health? If so, BC2M (Bring Change 2 Mind) is the club for you. BC2M’s goal is educate students and staff about mental health. We meet the first Thursday of the month during 2^nd session of SRT in the classroom of the learning commons. Bring a friend and come see what it’s about. Our first meeting is this Thursday Sept. 2. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. King or Ms. Embriz in the counseling office.

We will have conditioning opportunities for those not in a fall sport and interested in participating in track and field. The opportunities will be held Tuesday and Thursday form 4-5:30pm. We will meet in the weight room Sept 14,2021. If interested you will need documentation on file in the athletics office. Are you interested in science, technology, engineering or math? The Technology Student Association is the club for you! Join us during 2^nd session of SRT today, September 2 in room 1620 to learn how you can compete in  fun events at the state and national level.

 Seniors, if you were unable to attend the meeting on graduation supplies on Monday, please stop by the main office to pick up a packet of materials.  Email Mrs. Clark at jclark@goshenschools.org if you have any questions.

The After Hours homework help has begun.  After school on Tuesday and Thursdays from 3:45-4:50 in the Cafeteria. Bussing will be available!

 

If you stay after school for the after school snacks they MUST be eaten in the cafeteria. They cannot leave the room.

If you are driving and parking in the school parking lot you need to see the bookkeeper in the main office to purchase a parking permit. In order to get one you will need to bring in proof of insurance, license and registration, and $5.00.

SRT MEETINGS:

Key Club will meet today, Sept. 2 during Session 2 of SRT in the school cafeteria. Key Club is dedicated to helping raise funds to support charities and organizations that help people in need. Please join us on Sept. 2 during SRT to discuss a fundraiser for Riley Hospital.

SPORTS:

This Friday night the varsity football team hosts Mishawaka in our first NLC game of the year.  The team is 2-0 on the season and appreciates the nice crowd last Friday.  This Friday, we are very pleased to inform you that the Chief Wade Branson Foundation is paying the admission fee for all current GHS students who present their current school year ID at the gate.  Please remember your ID and let’s pack that student section!  The theme night for this Friday is NEON night

The JV and Varsity girls golf teams will play against Mishawaka and Plymouth HS  at Pretty Lake Golf Club starting at 5:00pm

The JV and Varsity boys tennis teams will play against Northridge HS at Northridge starting at 5:00pm

The Freshman, JV and Varsity volleyball teams will play against Warsaw at Warsaw. Freshman and JV play at 5:30pm and Varsity plays at 7:00pm

The JV and Varsity coed cross country teams will race against Elkhart HS at Elkhart on the West Campus starting at 6:00pm

The JV boys soccer team will play Plymouth HS at Plymouth starting at 6:00pm

SPORTS RESULTS:

Goshen played fairly well considering one of their top players wasn’t in the lineup tonight. Falling six strokes short of Wawasee with Sophia Garber and Haylee Evans playing with the varsity tonight, we had a few season bests from Kiley Wise (52) and Haylee Evans (52). Come cheer us on tomorrow night as we play Mishawaka and Plymouth at Pretty Lake
