GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2015

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The plan for mascot voting for students and staff with e-mail will be from 9:56-10:06 a.m. tomorrow.  Please make sure you have your laptops charged and ready. Make up voting will be on Wednesday during lunch periods for any students that are absent.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field. If you’re interested in learning how to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, you can pick up your required paperwork from Mr. Snyder in the choir office, Lucas Kauffman, or in the main office. The paperwork should be turned in the first time you attend.

Boys Basketball practice begins TODAY.  All freshmen should report from 6:00-7:45 a.m. in the main gym. All sophomores, juniors and seniors should report to the main gym after school until 6:15 p.m.  All paperwork must be completed with the athletic office before participation will be allowed.  This includes an IHSAA physical, code of conduct and concussion paperwork.  If you have any questions contact Coach Bechtel, Coach Wohlford, Coach Davis or Coach McLaughlin.

GHS’s Month of Compassion Human Project has officially begun!  Every year GHS students and staff bring in canned food items to be donated to local food pantries. This year, we will be collecting coats, hats and gloves in addition to non-perishable foods.  Donation boxes are located in a limited number of classrooms throughout the school, and items will be accepted until November 19th.

South Bend WorkOne and Adecco are having a hiring event TODAY from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  They have 100 positions that need to be filled – all shifts. Pay depends on the shift.  Please see the bulletin board outside the main office for more information.

Drama Club will be holding their November meeting tomorrow in the auditorium after school. An audition workshop will be held followed by auditions for the Christmas Program to be performed on Sunday, December 13th. See posters for more details.

If you are signed up to go on the IUSB trip you will report straight to the old pool doors outside the main office instead of going to 1st period on Friday. The list of those going is posted outside Guidance, 1180 and 8050.

Reminder – The end of the season banquet for boys soccer players has been moved to Monday, November 16th.

Those students interested in the Marine Biology program are reminded that early applications and down payments are due this Friday. Applications and payments can be given to Mr. or Mrs. Weaver in room 3070.

This is a reminder all fall athletes need to return their training room items before the awards night TONIGHT. You should check those in with a trainer or the athletic office.

The guidance office has now has the Kiwanis Scholarship.  Stop in and check out #scholarshiprow for more info.

Congratulations to the Crimson Marching Band for an outstanding performance at the ISSMA State Marching Band Championships this past Saturday. The Crimson Marching Band placed 10th and will be competing in the Bands of America Grand Nationals this coming Friday and Saturday.

 

MEETINGS DURING SRT:

There will be an informational meeting in the main gym tomorrow during the 2nd session of SRT for all girls interested in playing tennis this spring.

There will be a call out meeting tomorrow during the 2nd session of SRT in the main gym for all girls interested in going out for track this year.

Boys soccer will have a MANDATORY meeting in room 2160 during the 2nd session of SRT tomorrow.

The Stay In bounds Ambassadors have their November planning meeting during the 2nd session of SRT in the main gym on Thursday.  If you are unable to attend, you are expected to communicate in advance with Mr. Kissinger or your absence will be considered unexcused.  Thanks and great first visits!

There will be a short meeting for all softball players that are trying out for the 2016 season in the main gym on Tuesday, November 24th during the 2nd session of SRT.

 

SPORTS SCORES:

The girls varsity basketball team lost to East Noble 47-38. The Lady Redskins were led in scoring by Kyrie Potter with 14 points and Olivia Love with nine points. Potter and Love also led the team with seven and five rebounds respectively. Aylissa Trosper led the team with four assists and three steals.

The JV Lady Redskins defeated the East Noble Lady Knights 40-30. The Redskins and Knights went into halftime tied at 12. The Redskins started pulling away from the Knights in the 3rd quarter then solidified their lead in the last couple minutes of the game. The Redskins were led by Kassandra Rodriguez with eight points, six rebounds and three assists. Maggie Gallagher also contributed nine points, going 3-3 from the free throw line. Laura Sanchez Lopez added eight points, while Nyla Dean had eight rebounds.
