- It was Senior night at the GCS Aquatic Center where we honored our 4 boy seniors: Austin Elliott, Jackson Gaby, Manith Kamalakanth and Nick Zehr – who also helped make the line up.
Ausin finished 2nd in the 50 free and 1st in the 100 Free while helping the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays to 1st place finishes as well.
Jackson Gaby unfortunately was not able to be here tonight and was greatly missed.
Manith Kamalakanth is in his first year of swimming for GHS, but not his first time being on a swim team. He was swimming back to back events in the 100 Fly and the 100 Free. Where he finished 4th in the fly and 5th in the 100 free. As was also part of the 1st place finishes for the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays.
Nick Zehr decided to go back to an old team “tradition” and swim the Gauntlet tonight. He swam the last leg of the 200 Free Relay, the 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, and started the 400 Free Relay. Nick finished 1st in all 4 events he participated in tonight.
It was a fun meet – with the seniors making the line ups, there were quite a few new faces in different events.
Other noteworthy performances were seen from, Peter Moser placing 1st in the 200 Freestyle, Skye Steury placing 1st in the 200 IM, Levi Moser 1st in the 50 free and 100 Fly, Jeremy Stutzman placing 2nd in the 500 free and the 1– back. Along with the divers going 1-2-5 with Nathan Gaby, Caden Hodge, and Crosby Poling Braun. All divers also participated in swimming events tonight and did a great job finishing their events.
Thanks for a great last 4 years seniors, you will be missed.
- Tonight we took the time to recognize our 3 lady RedHawk seniors.
Gisselle Avila Rodas is in her 2nd year of GHS swimming – and has been a great addition to our team. She’s a great teammate, but was not able to compete tonight, we look forward to her return at the end of the week.
Sarah Kim is our manager this year, however she previously dove for the Lady RedHawks. We’re glad she’s back and helping us out – though we do miss her swimming and diving :)
Ellie Walters is our final senior. She’s been swimming all 4 years and we’re glad she’s here. She decided she wanted to swim the 50 free tonight where she finished 3rd and the 100 back where she placed 1st.
Other noteworthy RedHawks include Norah George-Miller who finished 1st in the 200 Free and 500 free. Sam Hunter who finished 1st in the 200 IM and the 100 Fly, Addison Diericks who finished 2nd in the 50 free and 1st in the 100 free. Vanessa Murillo-Cruz who finished 2nd behind Sam in the 200 IM and 100 Fly, and Maggie Dorn who finished 2nd to Norah in the 200 and 500 freestyle.
Way to go ladies! Thanks for all your hard work. We’ve got more work to do, but the goals are in sight!
