ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Picture retakes are on September 8th.

If you missed Herff Jones on Wednesday, they will return on Thursday, September 15th from 7:45-8:15 a.m. to take cap and gown/graduation orders.  Students, GET YOUR ODERS IN to avoid late fees!

Mr. Borjas and Mrs. Kissinger’s 5th period classes will take A lunch TODAY.

Are you looking for a way to get involved?  Are you interested in local politics?  If so, be looking for a special announcement from Goshen mayor, Jeremy Stutsman, as he announces his plan for a city council youth advisor.  This will be a position elected by the students at Goshen High School.  More information is coming soon!

Students, if you are driving to school you must get a parking tag.  Officer Johnson has started checking vehicles in the parking lot.  Bring your license, current registration, current insurance and $5 to Mrs. Haney, the bookkeeper.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field.  If you’re interested in learning how to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, you can pick up your required paperwork from Mr. Snyder in the choir office, Mr. Brubaker, Lucas Kauffman, or Mrs. Stealy in the main office.  The paperwork should be turned in to Lucas Kauffman the first time you attend.

The girls freshman volleyball team lost to Warsaw 0-2.

The boys tennis team lost a narrow 2-3 decision to Northridge.  The match was decided in a 4-6 3rd set in the last match on the court.  Logan Troyer and Bobby Sessa gutted out a win at 1 doubles, and Simon Myers at 3 singles overcame a slow start to run away with it.  The JV improved to 3-3 on the season with a 5-2 win.  Axel Brown and Wyatt Fisher beat the 1 doubles team, and Austin Peeler beat the former 1 singles player.

The girls JV volleyball team lost to Warsaw 0-2.

The girls varsity volleyball team lost to Warsaw 0-3.

The Lady RedHawks came up a little short against two tough NLC schools.  Northwood steamed to a fine 168 followed by Warsaw shooting a 190.  Goshen, led by Olivia Lehr’s 54 and Olivia Thomas’ 56, posted a 243.  The highlight of the evening came on the first hole played for the number three golfers.  For Goshen it was Katie Kercher.  She watched as Warsaw’s Delaney Wihebrink recorded a Hole-n-one on her first swing of the night!

The Goshen girls soccer team made the long trip to Laporte last night and came away with a 5-1 victory.  Anne Nisley and Aylissa Trosper each had two goals to lead the Goshen offense.  Aniya Hartzler also scored for the RedHawks.  Alexa Medina, Hannah Kurtz and Jhoana Gomez assisted on the goals.  The girls are now 4-2 and will host Wawasee on Saturday.  The varsity game has been moved to 10:00 a.m. followed by JV at 11:45 a.m.   The JV team defeated Laporte 4-0.  Jocelyn Guevara, Karina Pimentel, Mia Mayorga and Yadira Diaz scored for the RedHawks.  Jocelyn Valderama, Mia Mayorga and Joana Regalado assisted on the goals.  The JV team’s record is now 5-1.

The varsity boys soccer team lost to Plymouth 2-1.  Lucas Bontreger scored a goal and Chris Garcia had an assist.

The JV boys soccer team tied with Plymouth 2-2.  Eduard Rodriguez and Franco Hernandez both scored a goal.

The Freshmen boys football team was defeated by the Elkhart Central Blue Blazers 40-8 at Rice Field.  Playing well for the RedHawks offense were Dominic Sosa and Ethan Vallejo.  Dominic had one passing touchdown and 100 yards passing.  Ethan Vallejo had 70 yards receiving and one touchdown.  Alex Lopez led the RedHawks on defense with one interception.

 

IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:

The boys JV and varsity tennis teams will host Fairfield at 4:30 p.m.

The boys varsity football team will compete at Elkhart Memorial at 7:00 p.m.

On Saturday:

The boys and girls JV and varsity cross country teams will run in the Harrison Invitational at 9:00 a.m.

The girls JV and varsity soccer teams will host Wawasee.  Varsity starts at 10:00 a.m., followed by JV at 11:45 a.m.

The boys JV football team will host Elkhart Memorial at 10:00 a.m. at GMS.

The boys JV and varsity soccer teams will host Penn.  JV starts at 5:00 p.m., followed by varsity at 6:45 p.m.
