Other acceptable items include travel-size deodorant, lotion, shaving cream, toothpaste, mouthwash and contact lens solution. Key Club appreciates your support of Riley Hospital!

It is that time of year again for the annual GHS Prom Dress Drive! The purpose of this drive is to provide free dresses for students who want to go to the prom but may be in financial need. We have several dresses in various styles and sizes to choose from. If you are in need of a prom dress or if you wish to donate a gently used dress, please contact Mrs. Hershberger or Mrs. Shakley. You may also ask your SRT teacher for more information.
IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week: Have you ever been in a game where your team was the prohibitive underdog and you came out victorious? If you play sports long enough, I’m sure that you will experience both the pleasure of winning in that situation, and the agony of losing when it should never happen. This past week the number one seed in the men’s NCAA Tournament, the Virginia Cavaliers, lost unexpectedly to 20-point underdog UMBC. Virginia coach Tony Bennett offered a humble response when he said, “If you play this game and you step into the arena, this stuff can happen, and maybe those who haven’t been in the arena or in competition, maybe they don’t understand that.” Being able to handle winning and losing with the same humility is a great trait to strive for. Coach Bennett made no excuses and congratulated his opponent without hesitation. As a student-athlete, you are in that arena, regardless of your sport. At the end, be humble with the result by showing your opponent that you understand that on any given day, either side can win or lose that particular game or event!
Don’t miss the Talent Show on Friday, April 13th from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
All PE and FIT classes are swimming this week. Please meet your classes in the lounge directly in front of the weight room. All students should come prepared with polyester swimming clothes and a towel. Be on time or you will miss the bus!
Recycle Caps-to-Benches Update:
- Reminder: The SRT competition has 1 more week. All plastic caps/lids must be turned in before Spring Break to be counted towards the competition! The winning SRT has their choice of pizza or homemade cinnamon rolls.
- A shout out to the TOP FIVE SRTs currently (in no particular order): Mr. Brubaker, Mr. Caskey, Mr. Clark, Mr. Smuts, and Mrs. Wertz. Many other SRTs in the running so everybody keep donating.
- We have a little over 200 pounds so far…. We need 400 pounds for a bench. Even after Spring Break we will be collecting the caps/lids.
- Please be sure the plastic caps/lids are CLEAN & dry.
Homework help is available every Tuesday and Thursday in the media center from 3:45-5:00 p.m. A bus will be available around 5:10 p.m. (5:20 p.m. on Tuesdays) if you need a ride home. It will pick you up at the south end of circle drive by the flag pole. This is a great opportunity if you just need a little extra time or even just a quiet place to do your homework at the end of the day.
REMINDER: YOU MUST BE STAYING AFTER SCHOOL FOR SOMETHING TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS – The GHS cafeteria is offering free after school snacks every day after school. This program is for any student who is staying after school. All student-athletes, club members, music participants, drama participants, after school homework help kids, etc. are strongly encouraged to stop by the cafeteria after school and take advantage of this generous opportunity. Students just need to show their ID and they can grab a healthy snack to go that will hold them over during their after school activities until dinner. The cafeteria will stay open until 3:55 p.m. to hand out the snacks. All students picking up the healthy snack after school will need to eat their snack in the cafeteria. We appreciate your cooperation with this adjustment that is mandated by the state of Indiana in order to continue this program.
If you are a student that leaves the building at any time during normal school hours then you must have a sticker on your ID if it’s for a class (PACT, Building Trades, EACC, Merit, shortened schedules, Red Zone, internship, etc.) that indicates that or a blue pass from the office indicating that you have permission to leave. Building Trades, EACC and Red Zone students are also required to sign out at the Welcome Center before leaving.
WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.
