GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2016

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Thank you to all of the students/staff who participated in the Spread the Word to End the Word campaign yesterday!  The new banner will be hung soon.  Along with this pledge of respect for all, please consider joining the Unified Track & Field team, which starts practice on Tuesday, March 15th.  They practice every Tuesday and Thursday after school until 5:00 p.m. See Mr. Kissinger, Mr. Smuts, Mr. Mullett or Mr. Lucas Kaufman if you are interested.

The guidance office has received a few new scholarships. Stop in to check them out!

The swimming and diving teams from GHS are hosting a Culver’s Give Back day on Monday at the Goshen Culvers on the SE side of Goshen by Menards. A percentage of all sales that evening will be donated to the swim/dive teams.  Please plan on visiting Culver’s for dinner or just dessert.  No coupon is needed.  Thank you for your support!

The GHS Talon is now online at talon.goshenschools.org! Check it out for web exclusives, student opinion polls (who is your favorite lunch lady?) and a special photo sneak peek of the GHS production of Mary Poppins.

IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week: One of the many responsibilities of a coach or teacher is to correct the student-athlete when you do something wrong or need improvement. How are you when it comes to handling constructive criticism or suggestions? Remember, there are all different styles and deliveries when teaching or coaching someone. Be sure to listen to the message. Some will be negative in the delivery, others will be positive. But filter the delivery and listen to the message.  Handling criticism and instruction will only make you better. Everyone needs improvement, so take those suggestions to help you become a better person, student, and athlete!

Due to ISTEP testing, the Career Center field trip has been postponed until Thursday, March 24th. Those students with signed permission slips will still be allowed to attend. There are still four seats available on the bus. If you did not get signed up and would like to see the Career Center you may still turn in a permission slip and attend but it will be limited to the first eight people to turn in a permission slip. See Ms. Hollinger in the guidance office to sign up.
