ANNOUNCEMENTS:
School pictures will be held TODAY January 29th! Packets will be handed out during SRT soon. ROA/Merit students may come at any point between 8:30AM-2:00PM if they wish to get their picture taken! If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Wolfe at awolfe@goshenschools.org.

Looking for work?
Miso Japan Fine Dining on Pike St. in Goshen is looking for smile faces, opening positions: part time cashier $11/hr for start. Apply walk in 2:00-4:15 pm Tuesday- Thursday.
Maplecrest Animal Hospital is seeking part-time kennel attendants. Applicants must be available evenings, some weekends, and some holidays. It usually works out to about 8-12 days per month, with about 3-4 hours per work “day”. Salary starts at $8.75/hr. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Dog and Cat care (feeding, walking, giving medication)
- General Cleaning
- Restocking medical supplies
The real “benefit” is the interactions between the veterinarians and the kennel staff. If the candidate has an interest in the veterinary profession, interesting cases will be shared with the students. All students participating in the graduation ceremony are expected to have a cap, gown, and tassel. Orders will now have a late fee applied.

SCHOLARSHIPS:
Kiwanis Indiana Foundation, Inc. Scholarship – Information is in the student counseling office. You must be attending a college in Indiana to qualify. Due 3/5/21.
William Tuffs Chapter DAR Scholarship – Applications are in the student counseling office. Qualifications: You must be a citizen of the United States and must be attending a college or technical school in the state of Indiana. Due 3/15/21.

MEETINGS DURING SRT:
- KEY CLUB: Our next meeting is February 4 during SRT. It will be in the auditorium. If you have not yet turned in your application or dues you still can. Please try to get them to Mrs. Dubash in room 2210 by Friday since this in when she will be submitting dues to Key Club International. If you need an application they are outside of room 2210. Dues are $20.00.
- Join BC2M! BC2M is an activity based group that focuses on education about mental health. Our next meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2nd session of SRT in the learning commons classroom. Grab and friend and join us!
- French Club will be selling Valentine’s day flowers on Feb. 9 and 11 during SRT. Flowers are $1 each and you can purchase as many flowers as you want when a French Club member visits your SRT room on either Tuesday or Thursday. This is a fun way to support a GHS Club and spread some cheer!
- National Honors Society will be selling Pure Vida bracelets that are a mix of grey, red, and white and were specifically designed for GHS. They are $5 each and will be sold alongside the French Club Valentine’s day sale during SRT on Feb 9 and 11. This is a great way to support NHS and show some school spirit!
- There will be a call out meeting on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2 during second session of SRT for students interested in either AP Art or IB Art for the 2021/2022 school year. It will be in the Ceramics room, Room 1530. Contact Ms. Poling for more information.
SPORTS:
In Sports Action Today:
- The boys’ Dive team will compete in NLC prelims and finals tonight at Northridge High School starting at 6:00PM.
- The boys’ JV and Varsity basketball teams will compete against Mishawaka High School at GHS in the Main Gym starting at 6:15PM. The Varsity game to follow at 7:45PM.
On Saturday:
- The Wrestling team will compete in Sectionals at the Elkhart West High School Campus starting at 9:00AM.
- The boys’ Freshman basketball team will compete against Mishawaka Marian High School at GHS in Whiteman Gym starting at 11:00AM.
- The boys’ swim team will compete in NLC Finals at Northridge High School starting at 1:00PM.
- The JV and Varsity boys’ basketball teams will compete against Penn High School at GHS in the Main Gym starting at 6:00PM. The Varsity game to follow at 7:30PM.
Sports Results:
- The Lady RedHawks win 51-23 against the visiting Lady Cavemen of Mishawaka. The RedHawks improve to 18-3 (7-0 NLC) and win the Northern Lakes Conference outright for the first time in school history. The RedHawks were led by Brynn Shoup-Hill 17pts, Tori Eldridge 12 pts, Megan Gallagher 11 pts, Tyra Marcum 9 pts, and Trinity Nemeth with 2 pts.
- The Lady RedHawks C-Team were defeated by Carroll High School by a score of 27-36. The RedHawks were led by Grace Kercher with 11 pts, Rosie Herrera with 8 pts. KC Shepard also had 7 pts and Andrea Sandoval had 1 point.
- Goshen Boys Swimming began their NLC meet with a strong start. Goshen individuals qualifying for Saturday’s Swimming Finals include: Jeremy Stutzman (200 Free, 100 Back), Jackson Gaby (200 Free, 100 Free), Xavier Groves (200 Free, 500 Free), Nick Zehr (200 IM, 100 Fly), Levi Moser (200 IM, 500 Free), Logan Cid (200 IM, 100 Free), Skye Steury (50 Free, 100 Breast), Logan Harkenrider (50 Free), Drew Sweetser (50 Free, 100 Fly), Will Franks (100 Fly, 100 Breast), Max Yegorov (100 Free, 100 Back), Austin Elliott (500 Free).
- The Freshman boys’ basketball team lost to Ft. Wayne Carroll, 58-36. Ray Harris led the RedHawks with 15 points and Jace Hershberger added 12.
Out of Season Activities:
- Any girls interested in trying out for the tennis team for the first time this spring should contact Coach Love to get more information. Go to the Girls Tennis page on goshenredhawks.org to send him an email.
- The GHS boys’ golf team is actively looking for players for their spring season coming up March through May 2021. No matter what your skill level, or how many rounds of golf you’ve played, the GHS boys’ golf team is looking for you. Be a part of our team, play golf every day after school and develop friendships and skills that will benefit you in the future. Golf is a game you will take with you your entire life. From beginners to the most experienced golfer, there is a spot for you on our team. - Any boys who are interested in boys’ track and field this year, please contact Coach Kauffman at lmkauffman@goshenschools.org and let him know the following information: Name, cell phone number, and events that you are interested in competing in. There will be workouts in the Warehouse for any boys track athlete wanting to Pole Vault, High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put. These sessions will be held Monday’s and Tuesdays from 6:00-7:30 pm.
- Any girl interested in volleyball should be attending morning workouts with Coach Miller 2 days a week.
- Any boy interested in playing football in the fall should attend off-season workouts on Mondays and Wednesday’s in the weight room from 3:45-5pm. You must have a physical on file to participate.

For those kids who need to take a bus from eLearning at home to athletic practices at GHS or GMS, here are the pick-up times and locations:
- Prairie View-2:35PM
- Chamberlain-2:50PM
- West Goshen-3:00PM
- Model-3:05PM
- GMS drop off-3:15PM
- GHS drop off-3:25PM
The bus will have internet access and the kids will be expected to be online in class while on the bus. Coaches are also analyzing current practice start times, as we may start 15 – 30 minutes later to allow for travel from home to practices.
Winter sport Athletic tickets and Pay/view:
- Now that attendance is not an option, all varsity/JV basketball games in the main gym and swimming at the GMS Aquatic Center will be live streamed for free. Visit goshenredhawks.org and the Ticket Info/Boosters tab for the link.
- For girls sectional basketball hosted at Goshen, we cannot offer free live streaming, as this is an IHSAA event. The games can be found on pay/view for $9.95 by visiting goshenredhawks.org under the Ticket info/Boosters Tab.
For winter sports, we are currently in a situation where only families of participating student-athletes have access to tickets. This is re-evaluated week by week and when we are able to return to 25% of capacity, we will then be able to offer tickets to students and staff. Staff ID’s will not be honored for admission unless the staff has been notified by the athletic department.
