ANNOUNCEMENTS:
REMINDER: Students, you are expected to stay in the commons area each morning until 7:45 a.m. Mondays you need to stay in the commons until 8:45 a.m.
Students, you are reminded NOT to park in the administration building parking lot. They have trainings, conferences, etc. that they need that space for. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field. If you’re interested in learning how to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, you can pick up your required paperwork from Mr. Snyder in the choir office, Lucas Kauffman, or in the main office. The paperwork should be turned in the first time you attend.
Super Mileage Club Purpose: To develop super mileage cars that will travel as far as possible on one gallon of fuel. Members will assist Engineering Design and Development students with the design and construction of vehicles and assist with other technology and maintenance. The first meeting is on September 8th from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. in room 8010. See Mr. Holsopple for further details.
The Apex Lab in room 1060 is open from 7:15-8:15 a.m. Tuesday-Friday and 3:45-5:45 p.m. Monday-Thursday for anyone needing to finish up work from this summer or get ahead this fall. Contact Mr. Wolf for more information. If your Apex summer course is not completed by August 28th your incomplete will turn into a F.
Please remember that if you drive to school you need to get a parking permit. You have until TODAY to get this taken care of. You will need a valid license, proof of valid insurance and valid registration. The cost is $5.00 and you can see Mrs. Haney in the bookkeeper’s office to get this taken care of.
Line 1 in the cafeteria will now be cashless. This means you will need money on your account to purchase food in that line. You will be able to deposit money in the mornings or online. Starting Monday line two will also be cashless.
The Goshen Public Library doesn’t just lend books! We also offer FREE activities for young adults. Stop in on Thursdays after school from 4:00-6:00 p.m. to hang out, study, find an independent reading book, play a board game, color, or just chillax at the teen café! And, of course, we’ll have hot chocolate and coffee. Looking for something to do tonight? At Nerd’s Night Out, bring your nerd herd for an epic battle at our Geek-Out Trivia Tournament from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Food for all and prizes for the winners! For tonight’s first ever varsity football game between Fairfield and Goshen, there will be a tailgate party in the parking lot for all fans. For $5 you can get a meal of five chicken wings, a bottle of water and a bag of chips. Game time is 7:00 p.m., so leave early! Support the Redskins in our first ever trip to Benton as we take on the Fairfield Falcons! Go Big Red!
The Interra Branch is opening this week! You can find the branch right outside the cafeteria every Wednesday and Friday during the lunch periods. We look forward to serving your financial needs this year!
Rule the Road This is a free teen driving event complete with a road course with instructors and a pizza lunch on September 10th from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Dept. This is open to students with a learner’s permit, or in their first year of having their license. You can pick up a form packet in the main office which must be turned in to Mrs. Stealy with a copy of your learner’s permit or driver’s license by August 26th.
Tonight the football game’s theme is Pajama Night. Let’s put the Falcons to sleep! Remember the school dress code rules apply to sporting events, so please be appropriate in choosing your outfit.
The Key Club Board of Directors will meet before school on Monday at 8:00 a.m. in the main office. Contact Mrs. Dillman if you have any questions.
Attention all students: Herff Jones will be here on Thursday, September 3rd during lunch and after school until 6:00 p.m. for class ring orders. This is your last chance to get your custom “Redskin” design on your ring!
MEETINGS DURING SRT:
Do you like planning dances, coming up with themes for homecoming, and doing fundraisers? Are you creative and have lots of fun ideas? Why don’t you think about joining student council? We will meet for the first time Thursday, August 27th during the 2nd session of SRT in the auditorium. If you are interested in joining please contact Mrs. Pierce in the guidance office!
There will be a call out meeting for all girls not in a fall sport who plan to play basketball this winter. The meeting will take place during the 2nd session of SRT on Tuesday, August 25th on the balcony of the main gym. If you cannot attend this meeting please make sure you stop by to see Coach Krebs to pick up information.
SPORTS SCORES:
The C volleyball team defeated Elkhart Central 2-1.
The boys tennis team avenged last season’s sectional loss by beating Bethany 3-2. Evan Beck at 2 singles and the 1 doubles team of Luke Rush and Logan Troyer each won their matches in straight sets. The 2 doubles team of Hugh Birky and Jacob Grewe clinched the win with a 3-set victory. The JV won their season opener 6-2. Freshmen Drake Crowder, Wes Beck, Diego Torres and Ben Bontrager-Singer all started their high school careers with wins.
IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:
The boys varsity football team will travel to Fairfield tonight to face off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Go Skins!
On Saturday:
The boys and girls JV and varsity cross country teams will compete in the ECA Hokem Karem starting at 9:00 a.m.
The boys varsity tennis team will host the Goshen Round Robin at 9:30 a.m.
The girls JV and varsity soccer teams will travel to compete against FW Concordia Lutheran. The JV game starts at 10:00 a.m., followed by varsity at 11:30 a.m.
The girls varsity volleyball team will compete in the Laporte Invitational at 10:00 a.m.
The boys JV and varsity soccer teams will travel to compete against West Noble. The JV game starts at 5:00 p.m., followed by varsity at 6:45 p.m.
