GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 2015                               

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Remember that your bus will pick you up in the front circle drive. You may use the doors that exit to the front of the school when you leave. We would appreciate that you get out there in a timely manner. The busses leave after 5 minutes.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field. If you’re interested in learning how to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, you can pick up your required paperwork from Mr. Snyder in the choir office, Lucas Kauffman, or in the main office. The paperwork should be turned in the first time you attend.

Anyone interested in ordering Goshen Cheerleading apparel, may visit http://tinyurl.com/o8fzhvg. The online store closes on Sunday.

The lost and found box will now be located at the Welcome Center.

The Goshen High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will meet for the first time Wednesday, August 19th at 7:30 a.m. in room 8030 (Mr. Krebs’s room). If you have any questions about FCA please stop by and see Mr. Krebs or Mr. Hutcherson.

This is just a reminder to make sure that you clean your trays up after you are done eating in the cafeteria. The cafeteria staff thanks you in advance for your cooperation with this.

Super Mileage Club Purpose: To develop super mileage cars that will travel as far as possible on one gallon of fuel.  Members will assist Engineering Design and Development students with the design and construction of vehicles and assist with other technology and maintenance. The first meeting is September 8th from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. in room 8010. See Mr. Holsopple for further details.

The Apex Lab in room 1060 is open from 7:15-8:15 a.m. Tuesday-Friday and 3:45-5:45 p.m. Monday-Thursday over the next three weeks for anyone needing to finish up work from this summer or get ahead this fall. Contact Mr. Wolf for more information. If your Apex summer course is not completed by August 28th your incomplete will turn into a F.

Please remember that if you drive to school you need to get a parking permit. You have until next Friday to get this taken care of. You will need a valid license, proof of valid insurance and valid registration. The cost is $5.

All cast members and costume crew for Anne of Green Gables will meet in the auditorium at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Cast will be measured for costumes and forms will be passed out.

Starting Monday, line 1 in the cafeteria will be cashless.  This means you will need money on your account to purchase food in that line.  You will be able to deposit money in the mornings or online.

The Goshen Public Library doesn’t just lend books! We also offer FREE activities for young adults. Stop in on Thursdays after school from 4:00-6:00 p.m. to hang out, study, find an independent reading book, play a board game, color, or just chillax at the teen café! And, of course, we’ll have hot chocolate and coffee. Then, next Thursday, August 20th is our Pages & Popcorn club from 5:30-8:00 p.m. We’ll talk about the book Insurgent and watch the movie. The first five people to sign up will get a free copy of the book! Looking for something to do next Friday night? At Nerd’s Night Out, bring your nerd herd for an epic battle at our Geek-Out Trivia Tournament from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on August 21st. Food for all and prizes for the winners! Rule the Road This is a free teen driving event complete with a road course with instructors and a pizza lunch on September 10th from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Dept. This is open to students with a learner’s permit, or in their first year of having their license. You can pick up a form packet in the main office which must be turned in with a copy of your learner’s permit or driver’s license by August 17th.

 

MEETINGS DURING SRT:

Do you like planning dances, coming up with themes for homecoming, and doing fundraisers? Are you creative and have lots of fun ideas? Why don’t you think about joining student council? We will meet for the first time Thursday, August 27th during the 2nd session of SRT in the auditorium.  If you are interested in joining please contact Mrs. Pierce in the guidance office!

The girls varsity golf team will compete in the Wawasee Invitational at 9:00 a.m.

The boys varsity soccer team will host a scrimmage against Bremen High School at 10:00 a.m.

The girls varsity soccer team will compete in the Westview Jamboree at 3:30 p.m.
