Key Club will be collecting cell phones to recycle for Cincinnati zoo’s Project Saving Species. Cell phones contain lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic. All are considered hazardous waste if sent to landfills. Cell phones also contain an ore called Coltan, which is mined in endangered gorilla habitat in Africa. Reducing the demand for Coltan will help save these animals and their habitat. Please give any unneeded cell phone to any key club member or place in collection box at the Welcome Center anytime before April 16.
