Friday, August 19-Opening Night on Foreman Field
The Goshen RedHawks varsity football home opener will be on Friday, August 19th, when Goshen will host the neighboring Fairfield Falcons. All JFL and 9th grade football players will be introduced starting at 6:30 p.m.; there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new field at 6:45 p.m.; and the Crimson Marching Band will take the field at 6:50 p.m. The marching band will also perform at halftime.
A commemorative program will be available at the ticket gate for the first 500 fans.
This year, all varsity football games will begin at 7:00 p.m., with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $6.00 for Kindergarten through Adult. Three ticket gates will be available for entry: One by the visiting bleachers off of Reynolds & 12th St.; one off of the alley east of Goshen High School, behind the home bleachers; and the main gate between Goshen High School and the public services building. In addition to normal parking spaces, parking is also available across the street from the high school in the bus compound and in the grass lot east of Foreman Field.
All-sport tickets and season football tickets will be available inside the main gate. Ticket manager Janet Johns will be selling all-sport tickets for $90 and football season tickets for $30.
Mrs. Janet Johns will be honored at halftime as an inductee into the GHS Athletics Contributors Hall of Fame. Janet has been the GHS Ticket Manager for 33 years, was the athletic secretary for 23 years, and was GHS’s first head softball coach, a position she held for 13 years. In addition to these formal positions, Janet has been a volunteer at all 27 Goshen Girls Relays and the past 38 Goshen Boys Relays for track & field. She has been the Assistant Meet Director of both relay events for the past 15 years and was Honorary Referee at the Girls Relays in 2010.
