Freedom Walk at GHS September 18-19
To those who have signed up for the Freedom Walk:
We are so excited to have you attend our Freedom Walk to bring further awareness and funds to rescue more girls!! There has been a lot of planning for this event. Here are some things that you can do to make the event a success for everyone:
Please do NOT take food or liquid besides water on the track or astro-turf. Goshen High School has been very kind to allow us to use these facilities. Please do your best to leave them better than we find them (they will have had a home football game the night before and it is a VERY quick turn around to allow us to be there).
If you are planning to start walking at 8 a.m., we would ask that you get there early (registration table will be open at 7) as there will be a lot of people registering.
There will be a brief kick off ceremony for the event starting at the track at 7:50 a.m.
We plan to change the direction every hour. Even hours will go clockwise. Odd hours will go counter clockwise. If you are running (red shirt), use lane #1, if you are a 24 hour walker (green shirt), use lane #2, everyone else (gray shirt), please use lanes #3 – #8. Thank you
There will be a JV soccer tourney, marching band, and volleyball also going on. Parking will be an issue! Please look for and listen to our parking guys, they will be wearing blue t-shirts. Men from Fight Club, please plan to park in the circle in front of GHS and also the lot at the south east tip of GHS property (the old TNL grocery grassy site). You guys are a large group and we so appreciate your participation and ability to walk just a bit further for parking.
Hawkins Water has donated water, it will not be enough for everyone’s needs for the entire time due to the size of our group. Please bring at least half of the water you plan to drink while there.
There will be food available at the concession stand. While soccer is going on, proceeds will go to soccer. After soccer is over, 50% of proceeds will go to Destiny Rescue. Rulli’s will also have a food truck there after 3 p.m.
The football bathrooms will be open behind the concession stand.
There will be a big tent on the north east end of the track. You are welcome to rest under it with a chair or blanket.
You may bring your own tent, however, do not stake it on the astroturf. Also, use only chairs with bars on the bottom on the astroturf.
If you plan to walk/run further than you ever have before, please plan to come well hydrated and to eat and drink in a way that will keep you healthy. Consider using Vaseline to prevent chaffing and shoes and socks to change out if needed. Bring suntan lotion for the daytime and warmer clothes if you plan to be there overnight.
“The Sale That Saves” is another event that will benefit Destiny Rescue October 9th 8a.m.-5p.m. and October 10th 12-5p.m. It is a garage sale of good quality items and will be held at 1302 Eisenhower Drive North Goshen. They will also have some Raffle tickets available for sale at our Freedom Walk.
Above all, this should be a great event to celebrate all the funds we have raised/are raising to rescue these sweet girls!!! We are VERY excited for the support that has come in so far and hopeful to hit our goal of $100,000 dollars which would rescue 66 girls!!!
From our Goshen Rotary Club: Thank you so much for your donations and your continued support of Destiny Rescue!
