GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2016

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Picture retakes are on Thursday. If you didn’t have your pictures taken last time, you can get a picture order form from Mrs. Wolfe in the main office.  If you just want your pictures retaken, please bring in your original pictures to give to the photographer.

Any student interested in doing Merit on the Move should contact their guidance counselor. Merit on the Move is an opportunity to earn a credit you are missing after school with an Apex course.  The class meets Wednesday and Thursday after school in the Apex room.  Classes start this week, so be sure to see your counselor as soon as you can.

The theme for this week’s home football game is Hawaiian Night.  Kona Ice will be selling shaved ice and sharing the proceeds with Key Club.  Come to the game in your Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts to support GHS.  Admission is $6 for students or FREE with an Activity ID.  Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. Fans will receive a FREE flower lei with any $4 shaved ice purchase!

If you missed Herff Jones last week, they will return on Thursday, September 15th from 7:45-8:15 a.m. to take cap and gown/graduation orders.  Students, GET YOUR ODERS IN to avoid late fees!

Students, if you are driving to school you must get a parking tag.  Officer Johnson has started checking vehicles in the parking lot.  Bring your license, current registration, current insurance and $5 to Mrs. Haney, the bookkeeper.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field. If you’re interested in learning how to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, you can pick up your required paperwork from Mr. Snyder in the choir office, Mr. Brubaker, Lucas Kauffman, or Mrs. Stealy in the main office. The paperwork should be turned in to Lucas Kauffman the first time you attend.

The boys tennis team lost another close match to Fairfield on Friday by a score of 2-3 that included 3 tiebreakers at 3 Singles & 2 Doubles, and a 3-set win by Hugh Birky at 2 Singles. Hugh Birky bounced back from losing the first set to win 6-1 in the 3rd. Logan Troyer & Bobby Sessa won their 1 doubles match in straight sets. The JV won their 2nd straight behind Kobe Gritzmaker’s first win of the season, and Anton Pham’s 8-6 victory.

The boys varsity football team beat Elkhart Memorial 35-14.

The boys JV football team lost to Elkhart Memorial, 26-21 at GMS. Jack Immel had two passing touchdowns. Hewitt Nafziger and Kaleb Nine had touchdown receptions. Noah Shively and Hewitt Nafziger both had one interception. Ian Hostetler blocked a punt. Drew Marlow had a fumble recovery.

The Goshen girls soccer team defeated Wawasee Saturday morning 7-0.  Anne Nisley and Aniya Hartzler each had two goals to lead the Goshen offense.  Aylissa Trosper and Alexa Medina also scored for the Redhwaks and assisted on all the goals.  The varsity girls are now 5-2.  The Goshen JV girls defeated Wawasee 5-0. Jocelyn Valderama, Karina Pimentel, Yadira Diaz, and Jocelyn Guevarra all scored goals for the Redhawks. America Esparza and Jocelyn Guevara assisted on the goals.  The JV girls are now 6-1.

The boys cross country team competed at the Harrison Invite Saturday. Finishing 13th. The Team was led by Zach Oyer in 40th place, followed by Jason Barahona 63rd, Sergei Culp 67th, Felix Perez-Diener 68th, Irving Suarez 73rd Angel Arreola 78th and Nate Ganger 129th.

The girls cross country team tied 0-0. Two members of the Girls cross country team competed at the Harrison Invite Saturday. Ariana Perez-Diener finished 41st and Kirsten Graves 96th.

The boys varsity Soccer team tied to Penn 2-2. Goshen goal scorers: Lucas Bontreger (2) Goshen assists: Chris Garcia, Junior Argueta, and Marcos Hernandez.

The boys JV soccer team tied to Penn 2-2. Goshen goal scorers: Salomon Hernandez, Eduardo Rodriguez Goshen assists: Chris Losano and Salomon Hernandez.
