ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Reminder:  If you need to put money on your lunch account you can make payments in the cafeteria at lunch.  The bookkeeper is no longer taking lunch money deposits.  You can also go to www.myschoolbucks.com.

Reminder for wrestlers:  Open Mats will be tomorrow starting at 6:00 p.m.  If you are going to the team camp this summer you need to be at open mats tomorrow.

Congratulations to members of the Concert Band who attended the ISSMA Concert Band contest this past Friday and were awarded a Gold rating for their performance on stage and a Gold rating in sight reading.

IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week:  A recent survey of 410 human resource professionals shows that 36% of companies in the U.S. have disqualified job candidates because of concerning information on social media/online search.  Just this past week an ESPN employee was terminated for an ill-advised post on his Twitter account.  Do you get the picture?  You must be aware at all times of what you are posting and talking about on social media.  Most student-athletes don’t realize how serious the consequences might be for something they deem non-important when voicing their opinions and thoughts on social media.  Your actions today can affect your future of tomorrow.  Don’t be careless or thoughtless with your words!

After hours homework help for any class is now available!  On Mondays and Wednesdays you can meet in the media center after school until 5:00 p.m.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field.  If you’re interested in learning how to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, you can pick up your required paperwork from Lucas Kauffman, Mr. Brubaker, Mr. Snyder in the choir office or from Mrs. Stealy in the main office. The paperwork should be turned in the first time you attend.

The final Key Club meeting will be on Thursday, May 5^th during the 2^nd session of SRT.

SPORTS SCORES:

The JV softball team overcame some shaky defense to beat Plymouth by a score of 8-6.  Nicole Abbs went the distance, pitching all seven innings for the RedHawks, helping them improve to 3-1 in the conference and 7-4 overall.  Goshen’s bats continued their hot streak as Maddie Cross continued to drive in runs with two hits.  Josie Walters contributed with a pair of hits and Breanna Boocher made some excellent plays defensively for the RedHawks.

The girls varsity softball team struggled early until their bats came alive in the 6^th inning.  The RedHawks beat Plymouth 14-4.  Goshen had 18 hits for the night while Caitlyn Doyle added her first varsity home run.  Kate Atkinson pitched three innings while Caitlyn Doyle also pitched three innings.  Emily Castillo had three hits for the night while Alexia Nettrouer, Caitlyn Doyle, AnaMaria Ramirez, Jordan Nemeth, Ashton Darnell and Elkah Devoe each added two hits.

The boys varsity baseball team could only push across two runs despite drawing nine walks, losing to Plymouth 6-2.  Chava Garcia homered and CJ Detweiler doubled.

The boys JV baseball team lost to Plymouth 10-8.  Trenton Scott had the big bat again for the RedHawks as he went 4-4 with a triple and homerun.  Joey Peebles also went 2-2 with three RBIs.

IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:

The girls JV and varsity tennis teams will host Northwood at 4:30 p.m.

The boys baseball C team will travel to Mishawaka at 5:00 p.m.

The girls JV and varsity track and field teams will compete at Wawasee against Plymouth and Wawasee at 5:30 p.m.
