GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2020

 

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The PSAT will be given at GHS on Wednesday, October 14^th.  This is usually your e-learning day, but all 10th and 11th graders will be coming to GHS that morning to take the PSAT in your SRT rooms. Sophomore ROA students will be testing in the Cafeteria. Junior ROA students will be testing in the Main Gym.  Buses will be available to bring you here in the morning and to take you home after testing (at approximately 12:20 p.m.). Lunch will also be provided.  The PSAT has many benefits including that it can help qualify you for dual credit classes without needing to take another test and it is great practice for the SAT which is becoming our state exam next year.  Please plan on coming into school on the morning of October 14th!  Study guides will be sent to your SRTs in the near future if you would like to look at them before test day.

 

IB exam registrations need to be turned in to Mrs. Dorn in the main office TODAY! Questions?

Ask you IB teacher, Mr. Nichols, or Mrs. Collins.

 

E-Sports Club will be starting on October 26^th in room 8030 after school till 5pm, Monday through Wednesdays. Everyone is welcome from Hardcore gamers to casual gamers or even those just interested. We will be competing in League of Legends this year and if we can assemble teams any other games hosted by Indiana High School Esports Network in January.

Games currently available; League of Legends, Super Smash Brothers, Overwatch, and are open to others we can support.  Games must be a recognized E-Sports Games. Because of COVID we are always able to support students studying at home for ROA and using their home machines, with parent consent and a daily check-in with the club leaders.

Meetings during SRT:

When we resume our normal SRT schedule, clubs will be allowed to begin in person meetings during 2^nd session of SRT.  Check with your club sponsor about your meetings.  These will begin on 10/13.

 

Do you like helping others? Are you interested in students’ mental health? The BC2M (Bring Change 2 Mind) club will have their first in person meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 2^nd session of SRT in the Learning Commons Classroom.  Come and learn about the club. The Technology Student Association (TSA) enhances personal development, leadership, and career opportunities in STEM, whereby members apply and integrate these concepts through intracurricular activities, competitions, and related programs – and looks great on college and scholarship applications. The GHS TSA club is sponsored by Mrs. Yoder and meets the 1^st Tuesday of every month in room 1620. French Club will have its first in person meeting Tuesday, Oct. 13 during the 2^nd session of SRT in room 2575! We will be playing pétanque, a popular game in southern France. If you are interested in attending please email Mlle Mack to reserve your spot!

 

 

 

SPORTS:

Sports Results:

• Goshen Volleyball loses to Elkhart 0-3; 20-25, 14-25, 23-25. Megan Gallagher with 28 assists. Kathryn Detweiler had 13 digs followed by Janiece Herrera with 9 and Megan Gallagher with 8. Kathryn Detweiler led with 12 kills followed by Brynn Shoup-Hill with 10.

 

In Sports Action Tonight:

• The boys’ Varsity football team will compete against Harrison High School at GHS starting at 7:00PM.

On Saturday:

• The Freshmen and JV Volleyball teams will compete in the Warsaw Invitational at Warsaw High School. The Freshmen team will play at 8:00AM. The JV team to follow at 9:00AM.
• The boys’ JV football team will compete against Prairie Heights at Prairie Heights High School starting at 10:00AM.
• The boys’ and girls’ Cross Country teams will race in Sectionals at Ox Bow Park starting at 10:30AM.

Basketball Sideline cheerleading will start on Monday, October 26th, 4pm in the warehouse. All athletic paperwork needs to be turned into athletics before you can attend practices.
