Josie Strader Earns a Spot in BBBC
The Brass Band of Battle Creek (BBBC) has established itself as one of the premier brass and percussion ensembles in the world. Musicians in the band hail from all over the United State and Europe.The BBBC assembles in Michigan twice a year to perform concerts, master classes, and youth education programs.The BBBC is proud to announce the selection of its first ever Youth Brass Band, which includes Goshen High School’s own Josephine (Josie) Strader. This group of young artists is comprised of student musicians from across the states of Michigan and Indiana. The 26 Youth Brass Band students were chosen from over 80 participants during the BBBC’s Youth Brass Band Day held on May 21st.
The BBBC Youth Brass Band will take part in leadership retreats, master classes and private Skype lessons with BBBC musicians, rehearsals, and performance opportunities over the course of the next 7 months. The Youth Brass Band is directed by Michael J. Garasi, resident conductor of the BBBC, and John Madden, Director of the Michigan State University Marching Band.
