GHS Named an IHSAA 2019-20 Sportsmanship Award Recipient
Dear Goshen High School,
Several years ago, the Indiana High School Athletic Association asked principals to share their top concerns about the state of high school athletics today. Sportsmanship topped the list as the number one challenge. To address this important issue, the IHSAA developed a sportsmanship program unlike any other in the country. An important part of the program is the IHSAA Sportsmanship Award. This award is presented annually to Indiana high schools that met or exceeded certain sportsmanship criteria set forth by the IHSAA during the given school year.
Of the 412 eligible high schools in the state of Indiana, just 23 qualified for this extremely prestigious award for the 2019-20 school year. It is our honor to announce that Goshen High School is a recipient of this outstanding honor. This distinction is much more than just a school award. This honor extends to your entire community.
The IHSAA is pleased to congratulate Goshen High School for your efforts in fostering good sportsmanship, citizenship and character within your students, patrons and community members. A commemorative banner will be delivered to your building early this Fall. Please display this proudly and let it serve as a reminder to every team, athlete, coach and fan that enters, your commitment to education-based athletics and the importance your school places on respectful treatment of others and fair play.
Again, congratulations to you, your staff, student athletes and fans!
Sincerely,
Sandra Walter, IHSAA Assistant Commissioner
