Senior Week
- Monday, April 29thto Friday, May 3rd.
- Monday, April 29 – Post-Graduation Plans– Let us know where you plan to attend college or work after high school. Check your email to complete a survey for seniors!
- Tuesday, April 30 – Graduation Tree Pick Up – Pick up your tree in Whiteman Gym @ the end of the day from 1:30-3:05 PM. Trees will be available at cap/gown pick-up the following day. GAP students will receive their own set of trees the following week.
- Wednesday, May 1st – Cap/Gown Pick Up & Graduation Ticket Pick Up– Pick up your cap/gown order & tickets during your lunch hour or between 11:30 AM- 2:00 PM. Full-time GAP students should pick up their items at GAP the following week. If you can not pick up items at this time, items will be available in the Counseling Office up until the last day of school.
- Thursday, May 2nd– Final Transcript– Don’t forget to send your final transcript to the colleges you are applying to. If you have committed to a University, complete a final transcript form in the counseling office. If you have committed to a University, complete a final transcript form in the Counseling Office.
- Friday, May 3rd – Cap Decoration– Cap decoration will be allowed this year. Pick up your cap sticker & guidelines in the counseling office on this day.
Graduate Recognition
Seniors and students graduating early, we would like to celebrate you by putting your post-graduation plans on the GCS and GHS social media! Please complete this form including a photo as soon as possible so we can celebrate your many accomplishments.
Cap and Gown Information
- Pick-up: May 1st, 2024- Students can pick up their cap/gowns & ceremony tickets during the student’s lunch hour or between 11:30AM- 2:00PM. Full time Gap & Virtual-only students should pick up their items at GAP the following week.
- If you are unable to pick up your cap and gown/ tickets on this date, please pick them up from the Counseling Office.
- Required: In order to participate in the graduation ceremony, you must wear a cap and gown. If you have not ordered yet, please order online now at highschool.herffjones.com
- Borrowed cap and gown?: If you have borrowed a cap and gown, you must purchase a tassel with the correct color and year. Cap & gowns must be red.
- Prior to the Ceremony: Get your gown out of the packaging early to get the wrinkles out. Do not iron or wash.
- If you attend any classes at GHS full time/dual or have already graduated from GHS
- Cap/gown/tassels can be picked up anytime between 8:00 and 3:00 in the Counseling Office.
- Tickets can be picked up anytime between 8:00 and 3:00 in the Main Office.
- If you attend GAP full time or virtually or have already graduated from GAP
- Cap/Gowns, tickets and reserved trees will be available for pick up by Monday, May 6th.
Ticket Information
- Quantity: Each graduate will receive 6 free tickets. Due to a large number of graduates and a limited amount of seating, we can only provide 6 tickets to each graduate.
- Pick up: Tickets may be picked up on Wednesday, May 1st during cap and gown pickup. Students must present an ID to receive tickets.
- Guests: All guests, including babies, attending graduation will require a ticket to be admitted to Foreman Field. Students should distribute their tickets to family members prior to entering the school.
- Extra tickets were due to be requested by April, 26th. No more requests can be made for extra tickets at this point.
- Handicap seating: There is limited handicap seating in the bleachers. Please let us know as soon as possible if anyone in your family needs reserved seats. We will reserve seats for you under your name, but your family should still arrive early. At 5:40 any unused seats will be released to the public. Please contact the school at (574) 533-8651.
- If you have not picked up Graduation tickets yet, please pick them up in the GHS Main Office as soon as possible. We will not be giving tickets to families at the gate.
Baccalaureate
- Students have chosen not to hold a Baccalaureate Ceremony for the 23-24 school year.
Senior Awards Night
- Thursday, June 6th 2024, at 7:00 PM in the Goshen High School Auditorium
- Students line up in the GHS Cafeteria by 6:45PM.
- Due to limited space in the auditorium, please limit the number of guests to parents and/or guardians.
- Wear your cap and gown.
As a member of the graduating class of 2024, you are cordially invited to the Senior Awards Program on Thursday evening, June 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the GHS Auditorium. You are to report to the high school cafeteria by 6:45 p.m. in your cap and gown. Please plan to attend this important senior evening. Even if you don’t think you will be receiving an award, it is a fun event to celebrate with your fellow classmates. We look forward to seeing you there!
Students should plan to attend if they applied for Dollars for Scholars or if they believe they could be recognized for any of the following awards: Academic/Technical Honors, Ivy Tech Cords, Club and GHS Awards, Community Foundation Scholarships, Senior Athletic Awards, Outstanding Senior Boy/Girl Awards, and Summa Cum Laude Medals.
Graduation Rehearsal
- Tuesday, May 28th 2024 – This will be a full day of school, but also the last day for seniors.
- Rehearsal is mandatory for all graduates who are participating in the commencement ceremony.
- Final instructions will be given for graduation.
- Bring your cap and gown. There will be a schedule of events provided at a later date. Some events may require the use of your cap and gown.
Graduation Day
- Graduate Arrival: Students meet in the GHS Cafeteria no later than 4:00 pm for photos.
- Guests: The football field opens at 4:45 pm for guests.
- Gates Close: Gates to the football field close promptly at 5:45 pm to allow for the graduates to line up. Guests may not be admitted after. Arrive early and prepare for extra time to park.
- Start time: The ceremony begins at 6:00 pm.
- Inclement Weather: If the ceremony needs to be delayed due to inclement weather, the announcement will be made by 4:00 pm. Please watch for social media announcements, specifically @goshenprincipal and @GoshenSchools.
- Rain Date: If the ceremony is delayed, graduation will be held on Monday, June 10 at 6:00 pm. The arrival time, gate time, and ceremony times are the same.
- Photos: All students will have a picture taken by Inter-State Photography from 4:00 pm until 5:15 pm in the cafeteria. Please make sure you arrive on time to have your picture taken. Photo ordering will be online only and shipped directly to your home. Please make sure your email is updated in Skyward! You will receive an email with a link to your student’s picture, along with the option to order.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- What to wear: Girls should wear pants, dresses, or skirts, as well as dress shoes or sandals. Wear comfortable shoes. No spiked heels will be allowed on the turf. Guys are urged to wear dress shirts, slacks, and dress shoes. Students should not wear jeans or flip-flops.
- CAP MODIFICATION: Seniors will be able to modify caps. Pick up your cap sticker & guidelines in the counseling office.
- If you walk, you must have a cap and gown (or a class A uniform, if in the military).
- Tassels should hang on the RIGHT side.
- Regalia: ONLY school-sponsored regalia should be worn during graduation. Please do not wear any other pins, cords, medals, stoles, etc.
- Cell phones should be kept on “silent”, and kept out of sight throughout the entire graduation ceremony. There should be no texting during the ceremony.
- Fees: Please take care of any fees you may owe GHS prior to graduation. Those fees may include textbook rental fees, uncollected fundraiser money, music or uniform fees, athletic fees or equipment costs, unreturned library books, and missing or unreturned textbooks. No payments will be accepted on the day of graduation.
- If there is money left in any lunch accounts or Skyward credit balances, please complete a refund request through this link.
- No payments will be accepted on the day of graduation. Athletic & music fees can be paid within their individual department. All other fees can be paid through May 31st at 3:00 pm in the GHS bookkeeper’s office.
- Chromebooks: Students will also not be given the option to buy their Chromebooks, so they must be turned in prior to graduation. If you do not turn in your device, you will be charged for it. Please bring your laptop to return on Rehearsal Day, Tuesday, May 28th.
- Graduation Requirements: Students must have met all graduation requirements by graduation day in order to walk in commencement. If you have questions, please check with your school counselor.
- Diploma: You will receive a diploma cover during the graduation ceremony. You may pick up your official diploma in the Whiteman gym after graduation. If you do not get your diploma at that time, you may come to GHS Main Office.
- Celebratory items: Please ask family members not to bring flowers, stuffed animals, and/or balloons to the graduation ceremony. It will be crowded in the bleachers, and there will not be room for gifts.
- Items not allowed: Airhorns, balloons, gift bags, flowers, umbrellas, baby strollers, etc. These items will not be allowed through the gate – they must be left in cars.
- Applause– Please hold all applause until the end of the ceremony so that all names can be heard. People causing disruptions during the ceremony will be asked to leave.
- Bleacher seating: Please ask your guests to remain seated during the ceremony and not leave until the end of the ceremony. No one should stand along the railing, or on the stairs. It blocks the view of those others.
