GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2015
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Students: If you will miss a final exam, you will be expected to make it up after Christmas Break unless you have an administrator’s approval to take the exam early.
Sports Performance will be offered for all athletes not in a winter sport through Christmas break. It will be offered on Mondays and Thursdays from 4-5:00 p.m. in the Warehouse. You should change in the weight room locker rooms and take all your things with you over to the Warehouse. If there are questions, contact Coach Clark or Coach Smeltzer. You must have a sports physical and concussion paperwork on file with the Athletic Department before participating.
We will have extended media hours for tutoring on December 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th and 16th. You can get help, study or just do homework from 3:45-5:00 p.m. You need to be in the media center by 3:45 p.m. any day you attend.
Anyone interested in playing volleyball intramurals can stop by the athletic office and pick up a team or individual registration form. Games will be played through January here at GHS. Each player will receive a t-shirt and the winner of each league will get a pizza party. Each player will have a fee of $8. This fee will cover any intramurals that you participate in this year (volleyball, soccer, basketball). Forms and money are due to Mrs. West in the athletic office by the end of the day Friday, December 11th. For more information see Mrs. West or email her at kwest@goshenschools.org.
Did you forget to turn in your senior announcement order? Jostens representatives will be returning on Tuesday, December 8th from 10:00-10:45 a.m. in the commons to take FINAL graduation products and cap/gown/tassel unit orders. Announcement packets are available in the main office or see all of Jostens products at www.jostens.com.
Auditions for the musical “Mary Poppins” will be TODAY after school. Bring a song to sing and get involved. Brush up your best version of any song you would like to perform. Callbacks will be tomorrow after school. This year’s musical will be incredible with all the wonderful songs and with a professional fly team coming in to help with the special effects. Don’t miss your opportunity to audition!
Drama Club Christmas presentation group – Rehearsals are in the auditorium on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. and Tuesday, December 8th at 3:45 p.m. You must be in attendance at these rehearsals to be in the production. Lines are to be memorized by Thursday. See your director or Mrs. Long if you have questions.
GHS Girls Soccer Awards: Congratulations to Alyssa Hershberger and Aylissa Tropser for being named to Northern Indiana 1st team all-District team. The girls represented GHS in the all-district games in Indianapolis on Saturday, November 21st. Despite a snowy weekend the girls still managed to represent GHS in one game. Alyssa Hershberger made some great saves and Aylissa Trosper scored one goal to help lead our District to a 2-2 tie. Alyssa Hershberger was an honorable all-state selection.
IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week: What’s your mental approach when you are in a slump or having trouble getting playing time? Do you sulk? Do you feel sorry for yourself? Do you blame the coach or take accountability? How do you react in game time situations, especially in rival games? Gary Danielson, color commentator for CBS and former college (Purdue) and professional quarterback, said something during a recent broadcast that makes plenty of sense. “In the biggest games it’s the littlest things that make all the difference.” Sometimes when we look at the big picture, we forget about all the little things that can lead to success. Pay attention to those little things along the way to lift yourself up when it really counts!
