ANNOUNCEMENTS:
WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.
All boys interested in playing basketball this year should see Coach Wohlford this week for a schedule of workouts.
Universal Tamal is currently looking to hire a waitress/waiter. You must be 17 years old, speak both English and Spanish and be able to work a maximum of 20 hours per week. For more information please call 534-3736 or stop by in person at 225 S. Main St. in Goshen.
The GHS girls soccer team is selling homemade pies this week. The girls are selling nine delicious choices of frozen pies. Contact a soccer player and help support girls soccer at GHS!
Homework help is available every Thursday starting TODAY in the media center from 3:45-5:00 p.m. A bus will be available around 5:10 p.m. if you need a ride home. It will pick you up at the south end of circle drive by the flag pole. This is a great opportunity if you just need a little extra time or even just a quiet place to do your homework at the end of the day.
Picture retakes will be on September 8th! Picture retake forms are available in the Main Office from Mrs. Wolfe if you did not have your picture taken the first day of school. If you did have your pictures taken and you want retakes, you need to bring your other pictures back in to the photographer. Even if you are NOT ordering pictures, if you missed picture day on the first day you MUST get your picture taken!
Just a reminder that if you are coming to see Ms. Tovar we have a new procedure. You need to check in with the staff in the main office and fill out a request to see her. She will send a white pass for you as she has time. Please do not cut through the nurse’s office to get to her. You need to enter through the main office.
Maple City Bowl will host tryouts for the RedHawk girls and boys bowling teams on Tuesday, September 5th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Any questions may be directed to girls coach Terry Kercher at 534-7790.
Any student driving needs to have a parking tag. You can get this through Mrs. Haney in the Bookkeeper’s office. You need to have a valid license, registration, proof of insurance and $5. OJ will start tagging vehicles without parking permits THIS week, so DON’T delay!
The Teen Health Club meeting is postponed until Thursday, September 21st in The Guidance Office conference room. Wendy Cornell is out on maternity leave and we need a few weeks to get things in place. If you are interested in a health career or healthy life choices, please plan to attend next month and invite others to join us.

The GHS cafeteria is offering free after school snacks every day after school. This program is for any student who is staying after school. All student-athletes, club members, music participants, drama participants, after school homework help kids, etc. are strongly encouraged to stop by the cafeteria after school and take advantage of this generous opportunity. Students just need to show their ID and they can grab a healthy snack to go that will hold them over during their after school activities until dinner. The cafeteria will stay open until 3:55 p.m. to hand out the snacks.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club will meet every weather permitting Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field across from door M. You can pick up required papers from Lucas Kauffman, Mr. Snyder in the choir office or Mrs. Stealy in the main office. All required papers need to be turned in to Lucas Kauffman by the first time you play.
MEETINGS DURING SRT:
There will be a call out meeting TODAY for any girl interested in trying out for basketball this winter during the 2nd session of SRT in the main gym.
Student Council’s first meeting will be TODAY during the 2nd session of SRT in Whiteman gym. If you are interested in getting involved with planning the dances and want to help promote school spirit please join us!
The first Debate Club meeting will be during 2nd session of SRT on Thursday, September 7th in room 2350.
Key Club will have its first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 7th in the cafeteria during the 2nd session of SRT. Membership applications for new and renewing members will be available at the meeting. Any freshman, sophomore, junior or senior who would like to know more about joining Key Club is also invited to attend. Email Mrs. Dillman or Mrs. Dubash if you have any questions.
French Club will hold the first meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 26th during the 2nd session of SRT in room 2430. The club is still looking for a freshman representative, junior representative and a secretary. If you are interested in any of those positions please contact Miss Mack before Friday, September 8th.
SPORTS SCORES:
The varsity lady golfers lost two matches to NLC foes Tuesday at MapleCrest Country Club. Northwood won the event shooting 184 while Warsaw split on the night firing a 204. Goshen posted a 236 with Olivia Thomas’ 53 leading the way. Her highlight for the evening was chipping in for par on hole #3. The JV team posted a season best 289 led by Estella Borden’s 60. Northwood had a 206 followed by Warsaw’s 245.
The boys and girls cross country teams competed against Wawasee and Concord. The boys lost to Wawasee 32-25 and lost to Concord 29-28. Jason Barahona finished 4th followed by Felix Perez Diener 6th, Angel Arreola 7th, Jonathon Snyder 10th, Jocsan Barahona 20th, Chris Sanchez 21st and Griffin Hetler 23rd. The girls lost to Wawasee 32-25 and lost to Concord 45-17. Yadira Sanchez finished 5th followed by Morgan Chupp 12th, Elena Meyer-Reimer 14th, Kayleigh McKee 15th, Kassidy Bestul 16th, Julieta Walton Clark 17th and Paola Rangel 18th.
The girls soccer team lost a close battle with state ranked Warsaw last night 2-0. The girls battled to a 0-0 halftime score before giving up two second half goals. Madison Rittenhouse had a busy night in goal with eleven saves. The varsity girls are now 2-2-1 on the season. The JV girls remained undefeated with a 5-1 victory over Warsaw. Lucy Kramer led the offense with two goals. Maddie Swallow, Yadira Castillo and Paulina Ortiz also scored for the RedHawks. The JV girls are now 4-0-1 on the season.
The boys tennis team suffered their first loss of the season in a 2-3 defeat to Warsaw. Two matches went to 3 sets and another one ended in a tiebreaker. Simon Myers improved to 8-0 on the year while Ryan Harmelink improved to 8-1. Carlos Lichty, Brenton Pham, Austin Cain, Anton Pham and Braxton Kincaid had wins for the JV team.
IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:
The boys JV and varsity tennis teams will play at Northridge at 5:00 p.m.
The girls JV and varsity golf teams will compete against Wawasee at Max Welton at 5:00 p.m.
The boys freshman football team will host Elkhart Central at 5:30 p.m.
The girls JV and varsity volleyball teams will play at Warsaw. JV plays at 5:30 p.m., followed by varsity at 7:00 p.m.
The girls freshman volleyball team will host Warsaw and Elkhart Memorial at 5:30 p.m.
The boys JV and varsity soccer teams will play at Plymouth. JV plays at 6:00 p.m., followed by varsity at 7:45 p.m.
