ANNOUNCEMENTS:
FALL BREAK EACC BUS: EACC students are expected to attend classes during fall break at the Career Center. A bus will be provided, leaving circle drive at 11:20 a.m. You are responsible for finding your own way to GHS and home after EACC drops you back off.
This Friday night is senior night at football when the RedHawks take on Wawasee. All GHS students who come to the game with a current school ID will be admitted to the game at no cost. Please bring your ID, no exceptions! Thanks for your support this year and GO BIG RED!
Congratulations to the RedHawk boys soccer team on their sectional championship this past Saturday, when they defeated Concord 1-0. The boys will play Penn this Saturday in Regional play. The game will be held at Merrillville HS at 9:30 a.m. Central time. That is 10:30 a.m. Goshen time. The championship is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Central time on Saturday evening. Thanks to all the students and staff who came to Elkhart Memorial Saturday to cheer on the RedHawks!
Congratulations to the Crimson Marching Band for a great performance at the Bands of America Regional in Dayton this past Saturday! The CMB earned the best visual caption and placed 3rd in their class. Next up for the CMB is ISSMA Regional at Chesterton High School. The group will perform at 6:48 p.m. (Chesterton time) to earn a spot in Semi-State.
At Friday’s home football game, Junior Achievement will be hosting a raffle for the Best Seat in the House. The winner will be named at the end of halftime and will then be able to sit on the track in a couch or recliner to watch the second half with one friend, with Pizza and refreshments! Give it a shot and cheer on the RedHawks as we host Wawasee.
WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.
For all those who have signed up for the Europe trip, we will have a meeting on Thursday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in room 1010. You and your parent or guardian need to attend. Please email Mr. Zuber if you have any questions.
For ALL girls that are interested in playing basketball this year, there is a mandatory meeting that will be held in the main gym Wednesday before school at 7:45 a.m.
Ivette Quintero is the winner of the lunch contest for National School Lunch Week. Her meal will be featured in the cafeteria on Friday. The winning meal that she entered was posole served with sliced radish, shredded cabbage & cilantro, chasca with lime wedges, and rice & corn tortilla shells. Ivette will receive two large pizzas as her prize. Congratulations Ivette!
IB forms are due on Wednesday by the end of the day. If you haven’t turned yours in yet, please take care of this soon. You do not need to pay in full when you register. If you have questions, please ask Mr. Nichols or Mrs. Collins.
On Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Grace College, Goshen College, IPFW, IUSB and Southwestern Michigan College will be in Whiteman gym for on-site admissions. Sign up in guidance for a time slot and make sure to fill out the application before your interview time. Colleges will be able to tell you THAT DAY if you are accepted! For more information please see Mrs. Gomez Wengerd in the guidance office.
Mrs. Gomez Wengerd will be taking students on a college visit on October 27th to Goshen College! This is a first come, first serve opportunity with priority given to upperclassmen. See Mrs. Gomez Wengerd in guidance for a permission slip! They are due by Friday.
Online yearbook sales are set up! All you have to do is go to www.yearbookordercenter.com and enter our school code (14723) to order your yearbook or yearbook ad.
Homework help is available every Tuesday and Thursday in the media center from 3:45-5:00 p.m. A bus will be available around 5:10 p.m. (5:20 p.m. on Tuesdays) if you need a ride home. It will pick you up at the south end of circle drive by the flag pole. This is a great opportunity if you just need a little extra time or even just a quiet place to do your homework at the end of the day.
Just a reminder that if you are coming to see Ms. Tovar we have a new procedure. You need to check in with the staff in the main office and fill out a request to see her. She will send a white pass for you as she has time. Please do not cut through the nurse’s office to get to her. You need to enter through the main office.

The GHS cafeteria is offering free after school snacks every day after school. This program is for any student who is staying after school. All student-athletes, club members, music participants, drama participants, after school homework help kids, etc. are strongly encouraged to stop by the cafeteria after school and take advantage of this generous opportunity. Students just need to show their ID and they can grab a healthy snack to go that will hold them over during their after school activities until dinner. The cafeteria will stay open until 3:55 p.m. to hand out the snacks.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club will meet every weather permitting Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field across from door M. You can pick up required papers from Lucas Kauffman, Mr. Snyder in the choir office or Mrs. Stealy in the main office. All required papers need to be turned in to Lucas Kauffman by the first time you play.
MEETINGS DURING SRT:
There will be a call out meeting for anyone (including Gmen) interested in Winter Season Sideline Cheerleading TOMORROW during the 2nd session of SRT on the upper deck of the main gym. If you are unable to make the meeting please contact Coach Kristy by email kristy.sloan@goshenschools.org.
If you are a boy interested in wrestling this year we will have a pre-season meeting TOMORROW during the 2nd session of SRT in the main gym. If you are planning to wrestle please attend this meeting. If you are unable to attend see Coach Pickard ASAP.
SPORTS SCORES:
The boys freshman football team lost to Northridge 49-13.
The boys varsity soccer team became sectional champions by defeating the Concord Minutemen 1-0. Goals for Goshen: Lucas Bontreger (1). Assists for Goshen: Flavio Cruz (1). The varsity soccer team is now 15-3 overall. They play in regionals on Saturday, October 14th in Merrillville, Indiana.
The boys cross country team finished 5th at the sectional meet advancing to Saturday’s regional meet. Felix Perez Diener placed 3rd followed by Jason Barahona 13th, Sam Miller 26th, Jonathan Snyder 27th, Angel Arreola 28th, Bryan Olvera 41st and Jocsan Barahona 56th. The girls cross country team finished 8th at the sectional meet. Yadira Sanchez placed 14th followed by Paola Rangel 25th, Sophia Koshmider 35th, Brandi Smith 50th, Morgan Chupp 57th, Flor Rangel 60th and Kassidy Bestul 67th. Yadira Sanchez and Paola Rangel advance to next week’s regional meet.
The boys varsity football team lost to Plymouth 41-21.
