ANNOUNCEMENTS:
WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.
Congratulations to the members of the Crimson Marching Band for winning the Plymouth Marching Band Invitational! The CMB also was awarded the Best Music and Best Visual caption awards. The marching band will attend the Bands of America regional in Dayton, Ohio this coming Saturday.
GHS is hosting the Elkhart County College Fair TOMORROW from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Whiteman gym. Students and parents from area schools are welcome to attend and should enter the school through Door M. The Armed Services and over 65 post-secondary schools will be represented. There will be two financial aid meetings offered at 7:00 p.m. – one in the auditorium in English and one in the cafeteria in Spanish. These information sessions are an opportunity for students and parents to learn about the college financial aid process. This event is a great opportunity for students to talk with college representatives to learn more about their school and gather information on what different schools have to offer. A wide range of post-secondary schools will be represented with 2-year, 4-year, technical, public and private schools all planning to attend.
In honor of the Day of German Unity, this week will be German Club spirit week! Show your spirit for the German culture and language by participating in the spirit days, and win prizes at lunch!
- Monday: German Club T-Shirt Day
- Tuesday: Plaid/Flannel Day
- Wednesday: Braids/Crazy Hair Day
- Thursday: High Socks with Suspenders Day
- Friday: Black, Red and Gold Day (the colors of the German flag)
The Ultimate Frisbee Club is hosting a Culver’s Give Back night TONIGHT from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Come eat a delicious meal and show your support! Drive thru orders also count.
Mrs. Gomez Wengerd will be taking students on a college visit on October 27th to Goshen College! This is a first come, first serve opportunity with priority given to upperclassmen. See Mrs. Gomez Wengerd in guidance for a permission slip! They are due by October 13th.
Online yearbook sales are set up! All you have to do is go to www.yearbookordercenter.com and enter our school code (14723) to order your yearbook or yearbook ad.
Homework help is available every Tuesday and Thursday in the media center from 3:45-5:00 p.m. A bus will be available around 5:10 p.m. (5:20 p.m. on Tuesdays) if you need a ride home. It will pick you up at the south end of circle drive by the flag pole. This is a great opportunity if you just need a little extra time or even just a quiet place to do your homework at the end of the day.
Just a reminder that if you are coming to see Ms. Tovar we have a new procedure. You need to check in with the staff in the main office and fill out a request to see her. She will send a white pass for you as she has time. Please do not cut through the nurse’s office to get to her. You need to enter through the main office.

The GHS cafeteria is offering free after school snacks every day after school. This program is for any student who is staying after school. All student-athletes, club members, music participants, drama participants, after school homework help kids, etc. are strongly encouraged to stop by the cafeteria after school and take advantage of this generous opportunity. Students just need to show their ID and they can grab a healthy snack to go that will hold them over during their after school activities until dinner. The cafeteria will stay open until 3:55 p.m. to hand out the snacks.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club will meet every weather permitting Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field across from door M. You can pick up required papers from Lucas Kauffman, Mr. Snyder in the choir office or Mrs. Stealy in the main office. All required papers need to be turned in to Lucas Kauffman by the first time you play.
MEETINGS DURING SRT:
Women’s Empowerment Club will have a call-out meeting on Thursday during the 2nd session of SRT in room 3130. ALL are welcome. Come and check it out! Contact (sponsor) Ms. Lisa Caskey (lmcaskey@goshenschools.org) or Stephanie Covarrubias Palomino (President, covars@students.goshenschools.org) for more information if you can’t make it to the call out meeting.
Student Athletic Council meets for the first time this year on Thursday during the 2nd session of SRT in the main gym. All junior and senior students who have previously been in a sport at GHS are encouraged to attend. This group will be listing the current pros and cons of Goshen Athletics at this meeting so we can plan in November how to improve on the negatives and accentuate the positives. This group also supports Unified Track & Field though fundraising at Kroger in November and helping at meets. Please come to the meeting to help generate ideas…..and eat a cookie or two.
SPORTS SCORES:
The boys freshman football team lost to Warsaw 42-14.
The boys varsity football team lost to Northridge 29-26.
The boys JV football team lost to Northridge 44-0.
IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:
The girls freshman volleyball team will host Concord and Mishawaka at 5:00 p.m. Good luck ladies!
