ANNOUNCEMENTS:
HELP WANTED: We are looking for a church nursery attendant at First Presbyterian Church of Goshen. Applicants should be 18 or older, excellent at caring for infants and toddlers, able to pass a criminal background check, and available to work from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Sundays. This position pays $10/hour. As additional needs for childcare arise, the nursery attendant will be the first to have an opportunity to work during other events or programs. On Thursday, during 2nd period and SRT, all junior student-athletes, regardless of season, are strongly encouraged to participate in the Be the Best Leadership Workshop on Conflict Resolution and Sportsmanship! Juniors must sign up in the athletic office or with Mr. Kissinger TODAY during lunch. Thank you!
STARTING THIS WEEK: Homework help is available every Tuesday and Thursday in the media center from 3:45-5:00 p.m. You must be in the media center by 3:50 p.m. in order to stay for this. A bus will be available around 5:10 p.m. if you need a ride home. This bus is for students who stay for after-hours help ONLY. It will pick you up at the south end of circle drive by the flag pole. This is a great opportunity if you just need a little extra time or even just a quiet place to do your homework at the end of the day.
Anyone who’s passionate about spelling or interested in strengthening their spelling capabilities should come to the Spell Bowl call-out meeting after school TODAY in room 3190 for some general information and sign-ups. This meeting will be brief. Anyone who’s interested, but can’t make the meeting should email Ms. Pobocik at ppobocik@staff.goshenschools.org.
After school, it is expected that all students exit the building by 3:50 p.m. If you have an after school activity, you should report to the sponsor’s room responsible for that activity by 3:50 p.m. You are not to remain in the hallways or commons after 3:50 p.m. Thank you for your cooperation with this request.

Free/reduced lunch forms are available in the bookkeeper’s office, in the cafeteria and in guidance. Please pick one up if you need it!
Students: 2018 yearbooks are NOT here yet. We will announce when they are here and ready to be picked up.
Any student driving needs to have a parking tag. You can get this through Mrs. Haney in the Bookkeeper’s office. You need to have a valid license, registration, proof of insurance and $5. OJ will start tagging vehicles without parking permits NEXT week, so DON’T delay!
The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is now available in Guidance. You must be a first generation college student (neither parent graduated from college), have a GPA over 3.5, demonstrate significant school and community involvement, have plans on attending college in Indiana, and you must apply by September 7th, 2018. See Mrs. Villalobos in Guidance.
WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.
YOU MUST BE STAYING AFTER SCHOOL FOR SOMETHING TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS – The GHS cafeteria is offering free after school snacks every day after school. This program is for any student who is staying after school. All student-athletes, club members, music participants, drama participants, after school homework help kids, etc. are strongly encouraged to stop by the cafeteria after school and take advantage of this generous opportunity. Students just need to show their ID and they can grab a healthy snack to go that will hold them over during their after school activities until dinner. The cafeteria will stay open until 3:55 p.m. to hand out the snacks. All students picking up the healthy snack after school will need to eat their snack in the cafeteria. We appreciate your cooperation with this adjustment that is mandated by the state of Indiana in order to continue this program.
If you are a student that leaves the building at any time during normal school hours then you must have a sticker on your ID if it’s for a class (PACT, Building Trades, EACC, Merit, shortened schedules, Red Zone, internship, yearbook, etc.) that indicates that or a blue pass from the office indicating that you have permission to leave. Building Trades, EACC and Red Zone students are also required to sign out at the Welcome Center before leaving. You can get this sticker in the main office from Mrs. Wolfe or Mrs. Kuiper.

Just a reminder that if you are coming to see Ms. Tovar you need to check in with the staff in the main office and fill out a request to see her. She will send a white pass for you as she has time. Please do not cut through the nurse’s office to get to her. You need to enter through the main office.
MEETINGS DURING SRT:
Girls Basketball will have a call out meeting TOMORROW during 2nd session of SRT in the weight room (6300) for any girls interested in playing basketball this year that are not involved in a fall sport. We will be passing out our Fall workout schedule.
Boys basketball will have a call out meeting for boys not currently in a fall sport TOMORROW during the 2nd session of SRT in Whiteman Gym.
FRENCH CLUB: We will have our first meeting of the year TOMORROW during the 2nd session of SRT in room 2410. All levels of French are invited. We are looking for a freshman representative. If you are interested, come to this meeting to find out about the role. We hope to see you there!
Attention freshmen – Key Club will have a call out meeting TOMORROW during the 2nd session of SRT. If you would like to learn what Key Club is all about, join us in the cafeteria when the 2nd session bell rings. Attendance will be taken there.
GERMAN CLUB: The 1st German Club meeting of the year will be TOMORROW during the 2nd session of SRT in the main gym. We will discuss events for the year and officer nominations. Bis dann!
SPORTS SCORES:
Boys varsity football was in action Friday night against Elkhart Central at Rice Field. The RedHawks were defeated by the Blue Blazers 52-6. Leading the way for the RedHawks was Wesley VanHooser. He had the lone RedHawk score with a five yard rushing touchdown. The RedHawks are back in action at Elkhart Memorial on Friday night.
Boys JV football was in action Saturday morning against the Elkhart Central Blue Blazers. The RedHawks lost to the Blue Blazers 35-0. Colin Turner and Eddy Flores led the offense. Connor Ratcliff, Isaiah Park and Roman Schrock each had multiple tackles for the RedHawk defense.
Goshen boys JV soccer and Northridge tied 0-0. Goshen is now 4-0-1, and 1-0-1 in conference.
The girls varsity volleyball team won the Westview Invite going undefeated on the day. The RedHawks defeated Eastside (25-13, 25-14), Central Noble (25-19, 18-25, 15-13), S. B. Adams (25-21, 25-21), and Whitko (25-15, 25-16). The RedHawks are now 11-2 and will start NLC play this coming Thursday against Warsaw. Top performers on the day were:

RedHawk boys tennis improved to 6-0 with a 5-0 sweep of West Noble. The JV team also won by a score of 4-1. Carlos Lichty and Carter Schmucker ran away with bagels.
The Goshen girls soccer team lost a tough battle to Northridge on Saturday 5-1. Joselyn Guevara scored for Goshen on an assist from Aniya Hartzler. Madison Rittenhouse had four keeper saves for the RedHawks. Goshen is now 3-1 and plays at Warsaw tomorrow. The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7:15 p.m. The JV team remained undefeated earning a hard fought 1-1- tie. Maddie Swallow scored for Goshen on an assist from Leslie Mendoza. Keeper Abril Diaz had five saves in goal for the RedHawks.
The RedHawk cross country teams competed at the Penn Invite Saturday. The JV girls placed 5th. Celeste Arroyo placed 30th, America Contreras 39th, Elizabeth Guerrero 45th, Noemi Vela 52nd, Veronica Quiroz 58th, Naomi Kratzer 61st, and Laura Scott 62nd. The JV boys placed 6th. Cesar Moreno placed 45th, Shawn Gulec 51st, Levi Graber 57th, Michael Smith 63rd, Simon Hertzler 66th, Tyler Wiese 75th, and Jackson Gaby 89th. The varsity girls placed 10th. Yadira Sanchez placed 46th, Kayleigh McKee 68th, Kassidy Bestul 69th, Sophia Koshmider 76th, Brandi Smith 91st, and Julie Walton Clark 92nd. The varsity boys placed 11th. Angel Arreola placed 60th, Griffin Hetler 65th, Adrian Mora 71st, Cole Johnston 75th, Sam Miller 86th, Jocsan Barahona 93rd, and Jacob Near 94th. The cross country team will compete tomorrow at Warsaw.
The boys varsity soccer team traveled to Northridge on Saturday evening, and lost 3-1. Goals: Fernando Quevedo. The varsity soccer team’s record is now 3-2 for the season, and 0-2 in the NLC. Goshen hosts Plymouth on Thursday.
IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:
Boys JV and varsity tennis will host Elkhart Central at 5:00 p.m.
The C team for boys soccer will host Penn at 6:00 p.m.
Girls volleyball will compete at LaVille. JV starts at 6:00 p.m., followed by varsity at 7:30 p.m.
