ANNOUNCEMENTS:
WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.
The guidance department now has the following scholarship applications in the guidance office: Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship and the Lilly Endowment Scholarship
Attention Students: Herff Jones will be here on Wednesday during lunch and after school until 6:00 p.m., to take Class Rings orders for any grade, and for senior orders for caps and gowns, graduation announcements, and other senior items. Extra packets are available in the main office.
Picture retakes will be on September 8th! Picture retake forms are available in the Main Office from Mrs. Wolfe if you did not have your picture taken the first day of school. If you did have your pictures taken and you want retakes, you need to bring your other pictures back in to the photographer. Even if you are NOT ordering pictures, if you missed picture day on the first day you MUST get your picture taken!
Just a reminder that if you are coming to see Ms. Tovar we have a new procedure. You need to check in with the staff in the main office and fill out a request to see her. She will send a white pass for you as she has time. Please do not cut through the nurse’s office to get to her. You need to enter through the main office.
Maple City Bowl will host tryouts for the RedHawk girls and boys bowling teams on Tuesday, September 5th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Any questions may be directed to girls coach Terry Kercher at 534-7790.
REMINDER: If you ride a bus, please remember that you are to exit the building out of the doors that face circle drive (the old main entrance doors or the athletic lobby doors) and get to your bus ASAP. The buses leave 5 minutes after the dismissal bell rings and they will NOT wait.
Any student driving needs to have a parking tag. You can get this through Mrs. Haney in the Bookkeeper’s office. You need to have a valid license, registration, proof of insurance and $5. OJ will start tagging vehicles without parking permits THIS week, so DON’T delay!
The Teen Health Club meeting is postponed until Thursday, September 21st in The Guidance Office conference room. Wendy Cornell is out on maternity leave and we need a few weeks to get things in place. If you are interested in a health career or healthy life choices, please plan to attend next month and invite others to join us.

The GHS cafeteria is offering free after school snacks every day after school. This program is for any student who is staying after school. All student-athletes, club members, music participants, drama participants, after school homework help kids, etc. are strongly encouraged to stop by the cafeteria after school and take advantage of this generous opportunity. Students just need to show their ID and they can grab a healthy snack to go that will hold them over during their after school activities until dinner. The cafeteria will stay open until 3:55 p.m. to hand out the snacks.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club will meet every weather permitting Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field across from door M. You can pick up required papers from Lucas Kauffman, Mr. Snyder in the choir office or Mrs. Stealy in the main office. All required papers need to be turned in to Lucas Kauffman by the first time you play.
MEETINGS DURING SRT:
TOMORROW, during 2nd period and SRT, all junior student-athletes are strongly encouraged to attend the Be the Best Leadership Workshop on Conflict Resolution and Sportsmanship. Please sign up in the athletic office this week so your teachers know by Monday that you will be absent on Tuesday during 2nd period and SRT. Go RedHawks!
The first German Club meeting of the year will be TOMORROW during the 2nd session of SRT in the main gym balcony. We will be discussing t-shirts, our First Friday activity and the officer election. See you there!
Student Council’s first meeting will be Thursday during the 2nd session of SRT in Whiteman gym. If you are interested in getting involved with planning the dances and want to help promote school spirit please join us!
The first Debate Club meeting will be during 2nd session of SRT on Thursday, September 7th in room 2350.
French Club will hold the first meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 26th during the 2nd session of SRT in room 2430. The club is still looking for a freshman representative, junior representative and a secretary. If you are interested in any of those positions please contact Miss Mack before Friday, September 8th.
SPORTS SCORES:
The boys tennis team edged a strong Jimtown team to remain undefeated. Diego Torres and Ben Bontrager-Singer overcame a slow start to in 6-2 in the 2nd set. Drake Crowder and Tony Le had the opposite match. They started strong and then held on to win in straight sets. Simon Myers rallied from a 1-6, 1-3 deficit to pull out the 3-setter and clinch the team win. The JV also won behind victories from Austin Peeler (who improved to 5-0), Carlos Lichty, Wyatt Fisher, Braxton Kincaid, Austin Cain, Cormac Koop Liechty, Anton Pham and Daniel Mora.
The boys varsity football team lost to Elkhart Central 17-14.
Boys Tennis swept all matches over a short-handed but tough Lakeland team. The team improved to 9-0 ahead of starting conference play next week. Austin Peeler and Austin Cain won the two JV matches of the day. Peeler remains undefeated this year.
The boys JV soccer team fought back with three 2nd half goals to win 5 to 3 over Northridge. Goal scorers for Goshen: Chris Losano (3), Eduardo Rodriguez, Diego Romo. Assists for Goshen: Fernando Quevedo (2), Ricardo Garcia, Franco Hernandez.
The boys varsity soccer team defeated the Northridge Raiders 3-0 to move to 2-0 in the NLC, and 5-0 overall. Goals for Goshen: Ciro Aguilar (1), Junior Argueta (1) and Marcos Hernandez (1). Assists for Goshen: Lucas Bontreger (1), and Junior Argueta (1).
The boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Penn Invitational. The girl’s cross country team placed 11th. Yadira Sanchez led the team placing 64th, followed by Morgan Chupp 83rd, Elena Meyer-Reimer 84th, Kayleigh McKee 89th, Julie Walton Clark 90th, Paola Rangel 94th and Kassidy Bestul 95th. The boys cross country team finished 6th. Felix Perez Diener led the team finishing 10th followed by Jason Barahona 12th, Angel Arreola 35th, Jonathon Snyder 61st, Bryan Olvera 63rd, Jocsan Barahona 72nd and Shawn Gulec 76th.
The girls soccer team lost a close battle with Northridge 2-1 on Saturday. Goshen’s only goal was scored by Hannah Kurtz assisted by Noelia Calderon. Madi Rittenhouse had seven saves for the RedHawks. Goshen is now 2-1-1 on the season. The JV team remained undefeated with a 1-1 tie with Northridge. Priscilla Ramirez scored for Goshen on an assistant from Maddie Swallow. Jasmine Hernandez had six saves for the RedHawks. The JV team is now 3-0-1 on the season.
The boys JV football team lost to Elkhart Central 22-7.
IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:
The girls JV and varsity volleyball teams will host LaVille. JV plays at 6:00 p.m., followed by varsity at 7:30 p.m. Good luck ladies!
