Deja Felder, a senior at Goshen HS, has signed a national letter of intent to continue
her education at IU-Kokomo. Deja is the daughter of Alfreddie Felder and Rebecca Yoder of Goshen.
She has sister, Shaneka, and one brother, Antonio. Deja was 2 time all NLC player at
Goshen and has been an instrumental leader in turning the girls basketball program
into a consistent winning program.
Deja chose IU-Kokomo due to its’ small campus, their exercise science program, and
its’ location. Her and her mom both like that “it is not too far away, but fare enough
where she will have her independence”.
She has earned an athletic scholarship from IU-Kokomo, an NAIA division II school that started
their athletic program 3 years ago. This will be the first year of Women’s Basketball.
The new coach is Whitney Farris, who has served as Sports Information Director and an assistant
Men’s basketball coach at the school. Coach Farris notes, “I am excited about Deja.
She is a tough, hardworking kid that our new program needs. She is our 4th recruit to sign”
GHS Coach Lenny Krebs adds, “IU Kokomo is getting a player whose best days are ahead.
She will benefit from the higher level of competition and improver her skills. Deja is a quality person.”
