Sports News and Results           

SPORTS NEWS:

  • GIRLS TENNIS CALL OUT MEETING. Anyone interested in Girls Tennis – Spring 2022. Join us on Feb. 7th during 2nd Session of SRT in WHITEMAN GYM
  • On Monday, Jan. 24 there will a softball call out meeting for all potential players in the main gym during 2nd session of SRT

IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:

  • The varsity girls basketball team will play Rochester at Grace College starting at 7:30.
  • The freshman girls basketball team will play Northwood at 6:00.
  • The JV wrestling team will compete at East Noble at 6:00.
  • The varsity wrestling team will take on Wawasee at 6:45.
  • The freshman boys basketball game has been postponed.
  • The swim meet at LaPorte has been cancelled. 

SPORTS RESULTS:

The Lady RedHawks won 40-26 at Jimtown. The RedHawks were led by Senior Tori Eldridge with 15pts, Breyana Cline with 9pts, Kyra Hill 8pts, and Sarah Harmelink 6pts. With the win, the Lady RedHawks are now 8-11 (2-3 NLC).

The varsity boys basketball fell to Jimtown 48-45. Goshen was led in scoring by Drew Hogan with 14 points, Quinn Bechtel with 12 points, and Deecon Hill with 10 points. Goshen hosts NorthWood on Friday for a 7:45 PM tip.

The varsity RedHawk wrestling team defeated Northwood to improve to 3-3 in the conference and 17-6 overall.

 

Eight Goshen Chess Club members played in the state individual regional tournament in Warsaw on Saturday.  Soroosh Kermani led the Redhawks with a 2nd place finish in the Championship division.  Andrew King and Levi Subera turned in strong performances in the JV division.  The Redhawks will compete in the individual state finals on January 29th in Hammond, IN. Congratulations to these students, and good luck at state finals!

Club Meetings        

French Club will be celebrating La fête des rois on Monday, January 31 during the 2nd session of SRT in room 1535. We will learn how it is traditionally celebrated, play some games, and have snacks. Sign up using the SRT program or just show up! All French students are welcome. Hope to see you then – À bientôt!

General School Info/Job Opportunities 

  • Seniors: A scholarship list is available on Canvas and is updated weekly. Please make sure to check out the GHS Counseling Office page and select Moduleson the left-hand side. The list will appear on the very top and has the websites/PDF files linked. If you do not have access, please let Ms. Embriz (lembriz@goshenschools.org) know.
  • The School Nutrition Department no longer has a credit card machine. Money may be put on your lunch account online. If a credit card machine is needed, the bookkeeper’s office has one.
  • The afterhours program is still going on after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:40-4:50. Bus transportation is available.
