GCS Teachers: Tools 4 Schools Open Houses in August
Tools 4 Schools is going ahead with the original plan to host six open houses for classroom teachers. The teachers need to register for a time slot. Covid-19 restrictions, etc. has them limiting shopping to 10 teachers at a time in the warehouse. This is not only for the teachers benefit, etc., but our volunteers as well.
These are the six open house opportunities for classroom teachers in August. Three more are being planned for September. (Other staff members like PE, Library/Media, Music, Art, child care, aides, etc. will have the ability to come into warehouse during the September open houses set up just for them. Preschools such Good Shepherd, Walnut Hill, CCYC Arbor Ridge, Jefferson, Brenneman, 8th St. Mennonite will also be given a separate day to come in.)
The days and times of these open houses for classroom teachers are:
Wednesday, August 19 12:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, August 20 12:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Monday, August 24 12:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, August 25 12:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, August 26 12:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 29 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Our webpage is: tools-4-schools.com On the webpage you will be able to see our items on hand with its current inventory. There is a way there to send us a message (if you are not using our email: tools4schools@yahoo.com).
Due to social distancing and the Covid virus, we are going to limit ten teachers at a time into the warehouse. On the Navigation Bar on our web page, there is “Reservation” to click on. This will take you to a form. Each reservation is for a 30 minute time period form with the available dates and times listed. YOU need to figure out the best time for YOU to come in. However, you will be limited to a 20 minute shopping time.
If you have a SMART phone, you will now be able shop in the warehouse utilizing a QR code on each shelving unit. This code will list the items on that shelving unit; you add items to your cart (just like Amazon!). This should help you get through the warehouse quicker! If you do not have a SMART phone, you will need to use the old paper/pencil on a clipboard again. We will then do the data entry. If you are not done in 20 minutes, we will still ask you to leave as the next ten teachers will be coming in. We want to keep everyone safe and try to be stress free during this process. Please don’t be late, or drop in just to see if we can accommodate you — we cannot. You must pre-register!
Bring your list of items you NEED! Bring your own shopping bags – none will be provided by us. Wear a mask! Bring your school ID (we have never checked these before, but now we will be doing so). We will provide hand sanitizer. We will be wearing masks and gloves. Do not bring children along with you, there is no place for them in the warehouse nor in our supply aisles/shelving areas.
Teachers will enter the warehouse through the door north of the dumpster. There will be a staging area outside of that door to go over registration and how to scan the QR codes. Once inside you can gather up the items you need, scanning the codes and entering in the quantity you take. At the end of the 20 minutes, you go through our standard check out tables. If there is still time, you have two other stops inside the building to make. One is the “Last Chance” cart – a little of everything. The last one is a gift table from Tools-4-Schools to each teacher – you choose which one you want!
Questions or concerns, let us know. Everything is so different now, but we are here to help you get the supplies you need and want for your classroom.
