Goshen Community Schools has received the statement that was issued by the Goshen Police Department this morning. As always, GCS remains in close communication with the Goshen Police Department and will continue to collaborate with the department to ensure the safety of all GCS students.

Goshen Police Department Statement:

March 4, 2020

On March 3, 2020 at 10:59 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of 617 S. 9th Street for the sound of gunshots. The anonymous caller reportedly saw someone carried by several subjects to a truck that was seen leaving on Reynolds Street. Officers arrived to the area and were unable to locate the subjects or vehicle.

At 11:03 pm, officers were dispatched to the emergency room of the Goshen General Hospital for a male victim with gunshot wounds. It was determined the male victim was deceased. As is procedure in every death incident, the Elkhart County Homicide Unit was called in to oversee the incident. Any additional questions may be directed to their offices.
