GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2019

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Hello students at GHS! We are having our first FCA meeting in room 1070 at 7:30 a.m. TODAY. What is FCA you ask?  It is Fellowship of Christian Athletes/Students.  Anyone is welcome regardless if you are an athlete or not.  In our club of FCA we have lessons on bible scriptures, complete two or three community service events, and just have great discussions that help us stay on track.  If you are interested, please see Mr. Kulp or Mr. Hutcherson for more information.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Student Faculty Senate meets TODAY before school in the media center at 7:45 a.m.  All clubs are to have a representative present at this meeting to report upcoming events, discuss policy, and to approve fundraisers.

Girls softball skills development will start TODAY from 4:30-6:15 p.m. You will need your physical and all other paper work completed before attending. See Mrs. Schrock in athletics.

Picture retakes will be on the morning of Friday, September 6th. Forms are available in the Main Office. If you would like to order online, visit mylifetouch.com and use code EVTH7F3ZS. These will be for any student that missed the original picture day, or any student that would like to retake their original picture. If you are getting retakes, you will need to bring your original pictures back with you. If you did not take one on the first day of school, you MUST get your picture taken on retake day!

Help support the girls soccer program by eating a scrumptious pie made by Dan’s Pies out of North Webster! Pies are sold through September 13th, and will be ready the week of October 7th. Find a JV/varsity player to place your order or find Coach Bontreger or Coach Hulbert here at GHS to order as well!

IUSB will be here for on-site admissions on Thursday, October 10th from 9:00 a.m. through 1:30 p.m.  Please sign up in the guidance office for a time slot.  They will be giving away some $500 scholarships!

Homework help is available every Tuesday and Thursday in room 1190 from 3:45-4:50 p.m. You must be in room 1190 by 3:50 p.m. in order to stay for this. You are expected to exit the building through door M where a bus will be available at 5:00 p.m. if you need a ride home. This bus is for students who stay for after-hours help ONLY. This is a great opportunity if you just need a little extra time or even just a quiet place to do your homework at the end of the day.

GHS athletic contests have started!  The price of admission at the ticket gates is $5 for soccer, volleyball, and lower level football and $6 for varsity football.  The best deal for students is to purchase a non-transferrable Activity ID for $40. This gets you access to all regular season athletic events.  See Mrs. Haney in the main office to purchase one.  Another great deal is to purchase a $20 punch card from the athletic office with five free admissions.  This is transferrable so you can share with your friends, but is not honored at any football games.

REMINDER: Any student driving needs to have a parking tag.  You can get this through Mrs. Haney in the Bookkeeper’s office.  You need to have a valid license, valid registration, valid proof of insurance (this means that none of these can be expired), and $5.  You don’t want to be the proud new owner of a big orange sticker.

You are under no circumstances allowed to lock your bike up to any fence or gate on school property. There has been a problem with students specifically doing this along the fence/gate to the soccer fields. If you continue to do this, your lock will be cut, and your bike will be removed. There are bike racks available, and they should be used. Thank you for your cooperation with this!

After school, it is expected that all students exit the building by 3:50 p.m.  If you have an after school activity, you should report to the sponsor’s room responsible for that activity by 3:50 p.m. You are not to remain in the hallways or commons after 3:50 p.m.  Thank you for your cooperation with this request.

Free/reduced lunch forms are available in the bookkeeper’s office, in the cafeteria and in guidance. Please pick one up if you need it!

WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.

If you are a student that leaves the building at any time during normal school hours then you must have a sticker on your ID if it’s for a class (PACT, Building Trades, EACC, Merit, shortened schedules, Red Zone, internship, yearbook, etc.) that indicates that or a blue pass from the office indicating that you have permission to leave. GTV and Red Zone students are also required to sign out at the Welcome Center before leaving. You can get this sticker in the main office from Mrs. Wolfe or Mrs. Kuiper.

Just a reminder that if you are coming to see Ms. Tovar you need to check in with the staff in the main office and fill out a request to see her. She will send a white pass for you as she has time. Please do not cut through the nurse’s office to get to her. You need to enter through the main office.
