The football team hosted and competed in the 2nd Annual Northern Indiana Lifting Competition last Saturday. Junior Zach Swallow finished 2nd overall in the competition and fellow junior Jose Rosales was 3rd. Other notable RedHawk players that finished strong were junior Ethan Vallejo who finished 13th overall, and junior Alex Ubaldo with 14th place. Junior Wesley VanHooser finished 2nd in his weight class, while junior Mason Schrock and sophomore Isaac Sawatzky finished 3rd in their respective weight classes. Great job players!
Anyone interested in auditioning for the student-directed One Acts should leave their information on one of the sign-up sheets on the auditorium door in the music hall or outside of room 3210. If you have questions, please email ppobocik@staff.goshenschools.org. Auditions are TODAY at 3:45 p.m. and in the auditorium. No prior acting experience is necessary!
The deadline to sign up in Guidance for the Elkhart Area Career Center is Friday, March 22nd.

GHS will host a Jeans for Troops Day on Wednesday, April 17th. Staff and students can donate $5 and wear jeans that day to help support our troops. More info to come after break!

The Elkhart County Farm Bureau Inc. scholarship is available in the guidance office. You must live in a household that has been a Farm Bureau member for at least two years to apply.
Important Information for Seniors – Nurse Wendy wants to make sure that you are aware that some immunization requirements have changed and you may need to update your vaccines before going to college. Please email Nurse Wendy if you have any questions or are not sure if yours are up to date. Currently we have just over 300 seniors who will need these shots before going to many colleges, universities, or trade schools.
It is that time of year again for the annual GHS Prom Dress Drive. The purpose of this drive is to provide free dresses for students who want to go to the prom but may be in financial need. We have several dresses in various styles and sizes to choose from. If you are in need of a prom dress or if you wish to donate a gently used dress, please contact Mrs. Hershberger or Mrs. Shakley. You may also ask your SRT teacher to help you get in contact with one of us.
It’s not too late – yearbooks are for sale for $45! They can be purchased online at jostensyearbooks.com or you can bring your payment to Mrs. Long in room 1400 in the Whiteman wing/art area.
REMINDER: Any student driving needs to have a parking tag. You can get this through Mrs. Haney in the Bookkeeper’s office. You need to have a valid license, valid registration, valid proof of insurance (this means that none of these can be expired), and $5. You don’t want to be the proud new owner of a big orange sticker. Officer Powell will be checking vehicles!
***PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL NOT HAVE THIS NEXT WEEK DUE TO SPRING BREAK*** Homework help is available every Tuesday and Thursday in the media center from 3:45-5:00 p.m. You must be in the media center by 3:50 p.m. in order to stay for this, and dismissal times are at 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. You are expected to exit the building through door FF, which is located by the stairs just down from the media center. A bus will be available around 5:10 p.m. if you need a ride home. This bus is for students who stay for after-hours help ONLY. It will pick you up at the south end of circle drive by the flag pole. This is a great opportunity if you just need a little extra time or even just a quiet place to do your homework at the end of the day.

You are under no circumstances allowed to lock your bike up to any fence or gate on school property. There has been a problem with students specifically doing this along the fence/gate to the soccer fields. If you continue to do this, your lock will be cut, and your bike will be removed. There are bike racks available, and they should be used. Thank you for your cooperation with this! YOU MUST BE STAYING AFTER SCHOOL FOR SOMETHING TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS – The GHS cafeteria is offering free after school snacks every day after school. This program is for any student who is staying after school. All student-athletes, club members, music participants, drama participants, after school homework help kids, etc. are strongly encouraged to stop by the cafeteria after school and take advantage of this generous opportunity. Students just need to show their ID and they can grab a healthy snack to go that will hold them over during their after school activities until dinner. The cafeteria will stay open until 3:50 p.m. to hand out the snacks. All students picking up the healthy snack after school will need to eat their snack in the cafeteria. We appreciate your cooperation with this adjustment that is mandated by the state of Indiana in order to continue this program.
After school, it is expected that all students exit the building by 3:50 p.m. If you have an after school activity, you should report to the sponsor’s room responsible for that activity by 3:50 p.m. You are not to remain in the hallways or commons after 3:50 p.m. Thank you for your cooperation with this request.
Free/reduced lunch forms are available in the bookkeeper’s office, in the cafeteria and in guidance. Please pick one up if you need it!
WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.
If you are a student that leaves the building at any time during normal school hours then you must have a sticker on your ID if it’s for a class (PACT, Building Trades, EACC, Merit, shortened schedules, Red Zone, internship, yearbook, etc.) that indicates that or a blue pass from the office indicating that you have permission to leave. Building Trades, EACC and Red Zone students are also required to sign out at the Welcome Center before leaving. You can get this sticker in the main office from Mrs. Wolfe or Mrs. Kuiper.
Just a reminder that if you are coming to see Ms. Tovar you need to check in with the staff in the main office and fill out a request to see her. She will send a white pass for you as she has time. Please do not cut through the nurse’s office to get to her. You need to enter through the main office.
MEETINGS DURING SRT:
Creative Writing Club will meet TOMORROW during the 2nd session of SRT in room 2430. We will continue digging deeper into our theme of characterization. We look forward to hearing what you have been working on!
The next German Club meeting will be Tuesday, March 26th during the 2nd session of SRT in Whiteman Gym. See you there!

Freshman Olivia Koshmider was an RBI machine on Tuesday, driving in seven runs on two hits to lead girls varsity softball past SB Washington 19-2. Olivia hit a three run home run in the third and a grand slam in the fourth. Freshman Liz Ramirez got her first varsity win in the circle allowing zero runs and zero hits. The RedHawks are 1-0.

The lady RedHawks track & field team had a hard fought battle with the lady Blazers of Elkhart Central, and came out victorious with a final score of 67-65. There were many personal bests posted by returners and newcomers on the team. Most notable were Brandi Smith (long jump and 200m), Sasha Ramos (shot put and discus), and Kassidy Bestul (1600m and 3200m) for receiving 1st place in two events during the meet. Mallory Wood (100m) and the 4x100m Relay (Alexia Chacon-Reina, Avah DeVoe, Mallory Wood, Kyiah Onyon) also got 1st place recognition. The season record is 1-0.
