Wednesday (Day 8) Pennecamp and Eating Out
|
Wednesday Carl called for a moratorium on study and work! This was a day for relaxing and play! The SCUBA divers were off by 7:30 while the rest of the crowd got up to a more leisurely breakfast and were off to the John Pennecamp Marine Sanctuary around 10 AM. It was a very calm day with less than 1-foot seas -- which is very nice for the snorkelers! (SCUBA divers aren't bothered too much with waves other than the possibility of getting sea-sick on the boat.) And because it hasn't rained for awhile here, the viability in the water is great. These are some spectacular coral reefs and I believe everyone had a great time. Everyone made it back safe and sound from Pennecamp in the afternoon, then had a quick shower and change and were off for our meal out. This year was a change in venue as we chose the restaurant at the Islamorada Fish Company. Afterwards, even on full tummies, lots of people found the energy for sand-volleyball under the lights. When I looked in on them they had some guys vs. girls games going, and the guys weren't doing too well! Here are three sets of pics, courtesy of Lenna Miller: A few pics from habitat studies. Lots of pics of Dining out at the Islamorada Fish Company Here are also a few pics of the Pennecamp trip courtesy of Dan Graber Be sure to check back on Tuesday's page for Dan Graber's pics of the fishing trip (and a few pics of a habitat study group)! |
