Thursday, Day 8

Good morning! Everyone is rested up and ready for another day. Windy but sunny today ... and mid-80's of course! Students are busy finishing up excursions to their habitats for data collection and starting to put their presentations together. This evening is their trip to the Everglades leaving at 6:30 so we will have an early supper tonight. I believe there will be grills going on the beach for chicken, but also to grill up some of the fish brought back from a deep-sea fishing expedition some of the adults took Tuesday night.

There is a tremendous amount of work going on behind the scenes to make a program like this work. Later today I hope to post some pictures of the folks involved in preparing group meals, construction, cleaning up trash and so on.

Today's tasks:

As promised, here are some pictures of the work going on behind the scenes. Many of the adults are involved in planning and preparing meals, then setting up the food, plates, napkins, etc. Others helped haul off trash from around the GHS equipment shed today. Some drive the boat and vehicles to haul students to and from their habitat areas. And of course instructors are available for answering all kinds of questions. At the end of the day, all of us shared a meal on the beach together.

Pictures of work and our meal together.

After supper at about 6:30 this evening the bus took off for the Everglades and some night viewing of the alligators. There should be some good pictures from that trip as well, but it may be pretty late before they are posted!
