Wednesday, Day 7

Twelve of our group left at 6:30 this morning for SCUBA diving at John Pennecamp State Park. After filling out the paperwork and getting our equipment around we were off for the reef, about 4.5 miles off-shore. There had been a storm through yesterday, and one on the way tomorrow, so the seas were pretty rough - about 3-4 ft waves. When the boat is underway things go relatively well. When they anchor, though, you want to get off the boat pretty fast! We had a good first dive, about an hour) off of Molasses Reef in about 30' of water.

Back on the boat between dives several of us fed the fish our breakfasts and some elected not to do a second dive. Those that did dive enjoyed another hour or so exploring French Reef.

About 9:15 rest of the students and many of the adults boarded our bus and headed to Pennecamp for the snorkeling trip on the Grecian Rocks Reef. The seas were still pretty rough for this group, and there were a lot of other groups. But the group reported that none got sick (amazing!) and everyone had a pretty good time exploring the reef.

Back to the the Hotel this afternoon and everyone got cleaned up for our pilgrimage to the Whale Harbor Inn. This is a chance for those that wish to 'put on the style' and for everyone to eat way too much! All of the students (and most of the adults) behaved themselves. I took lots of pictures and will post them here with minimum editing.
