Day 4 -- A Day for reflection and learning.

And a Good Sunday Morning to all of you, dear readers! This beautiful morning was made all the more interesting as the "tree service" people showed up at 7am to work on the coconut palms! One fellow climbs up the trees, hangs up there with a chainsaw (do NOT try this at home), and cuts loose dead branches and clusters of coconuts that come crashing down to the lawn. More folks are waiting below to gather up the debris. One might think that this would be one place that hard hats might come in handy, but there were none in sight. There are a few pics of the process in the picture sets below.

Everyone managed to dodge the falling coconuts and make it to breakfast unharmed. Many of the students and adults chose to participate in a worship service this morning, where a group of students lead the singing and Tim Thiery shared some reflections. Wouldn't it be nice if all worship services could be outside under the palms with a warm, gentle breeze blowing off the ocean?

After the service, students had another seminar session on "The Worms and the Derms". (Ask them about it when they get home.) Lots of the pics in the first set I will post today are of the students in a seminar. Looks like a pretty rough life, eh?

This afternoon students are off on field trips again. We are a little restricted as our poor boat just doesn't want to run reliably despite our cajoling, various incantations and beating it about the engine. We are *almost* to the point of breaking down and getting someone who actually knows how to fix boat engines! We will try to start getting pictures of the field trips up soon.

We don't *think* we have lost anyone yet, but if you haven't seen pics of your student yet, drop us an email and we will try to find them! BTW, sorry for the very late post last night. We were working on the boat until dark, and by the time the pictures were ready to upload we had trouble getting an open phone line. We will try to do better this evening. In the meantime, enjoy the pictures from this Sunday morning.

Sunday evening update. We are all pretty excited that the boat is running again! Tomorrow we can finally get in some of the field trips that require the boat. It is a beautiful, cool evening here. Most of the students have been working on their water quality tests. Here are a few pics of this evenings activities.
