Day 8 -- Reports, presentations and last-minute tans

Crunch time today! As you can see from the morning photos, most students were working on finishing their individual workbooks, groups reports, and their group presentations. Some people had time for a few excursions looking for manitee in the Mangroves, exploring a neighboring island, and SCUBA diving in the quarry. Most of the adults spent most of the day getting the food organized, the kitchens packed away, the pontoon boat trailered and tarped over for the trip, the lab and snorkling equipment packed away, books inventoried and repacked, etc. etc. etc. There is an almost unbelievable amount of organizing to do on a trip like this and many people have had a hand in making this work.

This afternoon the students did their group presentations. Each eating group had been assigned a habitat. All groups had opportunities to visit all the habitats, but each group concentrated on a different habitat. The presentations were an opportunity to share their research. They have certain information they are expected to communicate but there is complete freedom to choose inventive ways to present it.

Tonight the students are making use of the warm night with volleyball, walking on the beach, and finishing up last-minute things. Tomorrow morning everything needs to be packed up and loaded on the vehicles. Mr. Weaver also insists that the students make sure their rooms and the grounds are cleaned up and free of trash.

Enjoy todays pics! I am not sure if there will be an update tomorrow, what with all the packing up, but check in and see! Otherwise, you will be seeing us all for yourselves on Sunday!
