GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 3, 2017                                 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Welcome back!

Any GHS student that needs a winter jacket can stop by the administration building.

Camelot Cast – rehearsals will begin TODAY at 3:45 p.m. in the choir room.  You will receive calendars, schedules, scripts and contracts.  We will finish at 5:00 p.m.  This is a mandatory meeting!

Next Tuesday, January 10th the athletic department will host the Sophomore Be the Best workshop during 2nd period and the 1st session of SRT in the auditorium.  This program focuses on Bullying and Hazing Prevention, Sportsmanship and Integrity.  All sophomores participating on an athletic team during the 16-17 school year are welcome and encouraged to attend.  You must sign up in the athletic office this week or with Mr. Kissinger at lunch on Thursday.  Go Big Red!

Next Tuesday, January 10th the winter Freshmen Be the Best program on Guidelines to Live By will be held in the cafeteria immediately after school.  All winter freshmen student-athletes in their first sport at GHS this winter are required to attend.  Come straight to the cafeteria after school and you will change for practice after the program is completed.

Football players, please sign up in the weight room for concession stand duty for this Friday, January 6th.  If you plan on playing football next fall and are not in a winter sport, you are expected to help out.  See Coach Park or Coach Weldy with questions.

Football off-season workouts will start on Monday, January 9th.  If you are planning on playing football in the fall and are not in a winter sport, you are expected to be there.  We will be done before 5:00 p.m.  Now is the time when you make your biggest gains.  Brick by Brick!

SPORTS SCORES:

The Lady RedHawks fought hard but fell to the visiting Northridge Raiders.  The team was led by senior Aylissa Trosper with 14 points and Ashton Ellis with nine points.  Jill Kissinger and Josie Walters both added four points in the loss.

The freshmen girls basketball team lost to Ft. Wayne Carroll 44-6.

The freshmen boys basketball team lost to Concord 36-19.

The girls swim and dive team dominated Mishawaka winning seven of the nine individual events and all three relays. The girls freshman basketball team lost to Concord 27-24 in an overtime battle.

The boys JV basketball team won against host Elkhart Central in the first round of the Elkhart Central JV Holiday Tourney.  Goshen was led in scoring by Porter Revoir with 16, Brockton Yoder with 11 and Ben Bontrager-Singer with 10.  Revoir led the Hawks in rebounding as well.

The boys JV basketball team beat Fairfield 53-40 in the championship of the Elkhart JV Holiday Tournament.  Leading the team in scoring were Porter Revoir with 16, Brockton Yoder with 11, Ben Bontrager-Singer with 10, and Joseph Good with 8.

The boys JV basketball team won against host Elkhart Central in the first round of the Elkhart Central JV Holiday Tourney.  Goshen was led in scoring by Porter Revoir with 11, Philip Wertz with 8 and Brockton Yoder with 6.  Revoir led the Hawks in rebounding as well.

The boys varsity basketball team lost the Holiday Tourney opener 58-63 in two overtimes to Elkhart Central.  The RedHawks were led by Mitchell Walters with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Will Line added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.  Eliot Nafziger added 10 points and Michael Pinarski 7 points and 5 assists.

The boys varsity basketball team won against East Noble in overtime in the Goshen Holiday Tournament.  The RedHawks were led in scoring by Will Line with 25 and Mitchell Walters 20. Line led in rebounding with 7 and Walters with 5.

The Goshen Lady RedHawks opened the first round of their Holiday tourney beating South Bend Clay 63-21.  They were led in scoring by sophomore Josie Walter with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Ashton Ellis scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, Jordan Nemeth had 10 points, Alyssa Trosper 9 points and Maggie Gallagher 6 points in the win.

The Lady RedHawks fell in the Championship game 56-45.  They were led by seniors Ashton Ellis with 15 points and Aylissa Trosper with 9 points in the loss.
