GHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2015

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Tonight’s swim/dive meet at New Prairie has been postponed until 1/19/16.  Mr. Kissinger apologizes for the late notice of this announcement.  Swim/dive team members should look for information from Coach Long regarding practice tonight.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field. If you’re interested in learning how to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, you can pick up your required paperwork from Mr. Snyder in the choir office, Lucas Kauffman, or in the main office. The paperwork should be turned in the first time you attend.

The guidance office has now has the Kiwanis Scholarship.  Stop in and check out #scholarshiprow for more info.

The Goshen Public Library doesn’t just lend books! We also offer FREE activities for young adults. Stop in on Thursdays after school from 4:00-6:00 p.m. to hang out, study, find an independent reading book, play a board game, color or just chillax at the teen café! And, of course, we’ll also have hot chocolate and coffee. Our regular programming will conclude this month with the Crafty Bandits TODAY from 4:00-6:00 p.m. where we’ll learn about modern art by making some cool coasters. Sports Performance will be offered for all athletes not in a winter sport starting after Thanksgiving through Christmas break.  It will be offered on Mondays and Thursdays from 4-5:00 p.m. in the Warehouse.  You should change in the weight room locker rooms and take all your things with you over to the Warehouse.  If there are questions, contact Coach Clark or Coach Smeltzer.  You must have a sports physical and concussion paperwork on file with the Athletic Department before participating.

If you ordered a class ring from Herff Jones they will be here tomorrow before school outside the main office to deliver them.

MEETINGS DURING SRT:

There will be a short meeting for all softball players that are trying out for the 2016 season in the main gym tomorrow during the 2nd session of SRT.

There will be a call out meeting for anyone interested playing baseball for GHS this spring during the 2nd session of SRT tomorrow in the library classroom.

Hey French Club!  It’s time for our next meeting tomorrow during the 2nd session of SRT.  Come on down to room 2410 and join us!

 

SPORTS SCORES:

The varsity girls basketball team got off to a slow start, falling behind 10-2 at the end of the first quarter. They came to within five at halftime, trailing 17-12. The Lady Redskins showed their strength, scoring 22 points in the third. Once they took the lead in the third, they stayed on top. The Redskins were led on the offensive end by Tahya Bruce with 15 points and Kyrie Potter with 11 points. Olivia Love and Aylissa Trosper both had seven points. On the defensive end, Bruce stole the ball six times. Potter and Love added seven and six rebounds respectively. Goshen stood Redskin Strong in the hard fought battle ending the game with a score of 52-41.

The girls swim/dive team placed 2nd at the Goshen Relays.

The JV Lady Redskins lost a tough match against the Westview Warriors in a close game, 29-22. The Redskins were led in scoring by Maggie Gallagher with six points. Gallagher and fellow freshman Josie Walters led the Redskins in rebounding with five and six, respectively.

 

IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:

The boys freshman basketball team will play at Elkhart Memorial at 6:00 p.m.

The girls freshman basketball team will play at Elkhart Memorial at 6:00 p.m.
