The club meets every weather permitting Tuesday and Thursday right after school. You must have all of the required paperwork turned in to participate. You can pick up forms from in front of the athletic office or from Lucas Kauffman.

All first season student athletes are to attend the Freshmen Be the Best Workshop on Wednesday, August 14th immediately after school in the cafeteria.  The workshop will end around 4:45 p.m., and you should be at your practices by 5:00 p.m.  There’s a leader in every locker!  What can you do?

The GHS Book Club will have a short informational meeting on Thursday, August 15th during the 2nd session of SRT in room 3180. Please come to find out which books we’ll be reading and discussing this year. E-mail your interest to Mr. De Kleine (rdekleine@staff.goshenschools.org) if you cannot attend, or contact Emily Brugh or Noemi Vela.

The Fall Sports Parent/Player Meeting is Thursday, August 15th at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.  All fall student-athletes are expected to attend with a parent to meet the coaching staff and to hear team and athletic department expectations and policies.

As athletic events begin, all students showing their ID’s will gain free admission to our opening contests. Here are the “free student admission” dates for the different sports that charge admission:   the football jamboree on Friday, August 16th, the girls soccer match on Tuesday, August 20th, the volleyball match on Thursday, August 22nd, and the boys soccer match on Tuesday, August 27th.  Come see what you are missing!

Please stop by the commons area (either by the cafeteria or outside the main office) during lunch if you are interested is speaking to the following:

Thursday, August 29th                 Anderson University

Tuesday, March 17th                    Army National Guard

Student Bible Fellowship (SBF) will meet on Thursday mornings at 7:45 a.m. in room 3180. This student-led group gathers weekly for fellowship, encouragement, and study of biblical texts. Please contact Elli Rauch, Lily Byng, or Valeria Murillo for more information.

GHS athletic contests will be starting soon!  The price of admission at the ticket gates is $5 for soccer, volleyball, and lower level football and $6 for varsity football.  The best deal for students is to purchase a non-transferrable Activity ID for $40. This gets you access to all regular season athletic events.  See Mrs. Haney in the main office to purchase one.  Another great deal is to purchase a $20 punch card from the athletic office with five free admissions.  This is transferrable so you can share with your friends, but is not honored at any football games.

REMINDER: Any student driving needs to have a parking tag.  You can get this through Mrs. Haney in the Bookkeeper’s office.  You need to have a valid license, valid registration, valid proof of insurance (this means that none of these can be expired), and $5.  You don’t want to be the proud new owner of a big orange sticker.

You are under no circumstances allowed to lock your bike up to any fence or gate on school property. There has been a problem with students specifically doing this along the fence/gate to the soccer fields. If you continue to do this, your lock will be cut, and your bike will be removed. There are bike racks available, and they should be used. Thank you for your cooperation with this!

YOU MUST BE STAYING AFTER SCHOOL FOR SOMETHING TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS – The GHS cafeteria is offering free after school snacks every day after school.  This program is for any student who is staying after school. All student-athletes, club members, music participants, drama participants, after school homework help kids, etc. are strongly encouraged to stop by the cafeteria after school and take advantage of this generous opportunity.  Students just need to show their ID and they can grab a healthy snack to go that will hold them over during their after school activities until dinner.  The cafeteria will stay open until 3:50 p.m. to hand out the snacks. All students picking up the healthy snack after school will need to eat their snack in the cafeteria.  We appreciate your cooperation with this adjustment that is mandated by the state of Indiana in order to continue this program.

After school, it is expected that all students exit the building by 3:50 p.m.  If you have an after school activity, you should report to the sponsor’s room responsible for that activity by 3:50 p.m. You are not to remain in the hallways or commons after 3:50 p.m.  Thank you for your cooperation with this request.

Free/reduced lunch forms are available in the bookkeeper’s office, in the cafeteria and in guidance. Please pick one up if you need it!

WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.

If you are a student that leaves the building at any time during normal school hours then you must have a sticker on your ID if it’s for a class (PACT, Building Trades, EACC, Merit, shortened schedules, Red Zone, internship, yearbook, etc.) that indicates that or a blue pass from the office indicating that you have permission to leave. GTV and Red Zone students are also required to sign out at the Welcome Center before leaving. You can get this sticker in the main office from Mrs. Wolfe or Mrs. Kuiper.

Just a reminder that if you are coming to see Ms. Tovar you need to check in with the staff in the main office and fill out a request to see her. She will send a white pass for you as she has time. Please do not cut through the nurse’s office to get to her. You need to enter through the main office.

SPORTS SCORES:

Girls varsity golf played at Noble Hawk. The ladies placed 11 out of 12 teams, beating Garrett by 35 strokes. McKenna Cripe was out today, so Lauren Murphy was our number one. Lauren and Estella Borden both shot a 111 on the fairly challenging links course. Freshman, Maya Narayan, scored a 112, which is great for her second 18-hole round. The RedHawks all have a certain skill they are planning to improve on in practice. Jenna VanderWey scored a 123 and Sarah Kim had a 120.
