ANNOUNCEMENTS:
FALL BREAK EACC BUS: EACC students are expected to attend classes during fall break at the Career Center. A bus will be provided, leaving circle drive at 11:20 a.m. You are responsible for finding your own way to GHS and home after EACC drops you back off.
WORK PERMITS: When you get a work permit EVERY box needs to be filled out on the Intent to Employ form before we will issue you the work permit. Please bring completed forms to the main office in the morning and they will be completed by the end of the school day.
For ALL girls that are interested in playing basketball this year, there is a mandatory meeting that will be held in the main gym Wednesday, October 11th before school at 7:45 a.m.
Ivette Quintero is the winner of the lunch contest for National School Lunch Week. Her meal will be featured in the cafeteria on October 13th. The winning meal that she entered was posole served with sliced radish, shredded cabbage & cilantro, chasca with lime wedges, and rice & corn tortilla shells. Ivette will receive two large pizzas as her prize. Congratulations Ivette!
IB forms are due on Wednesday, October 11th by the end of the day. If you haven’t turned yours in yet, please take care of this soon. You do not need to pay in full when you register. If you have questions, please ask Mr. Nichols or Mrs. Collins.
The marching band will attend the Bands of America regional in Dayton, Ohio TOMORROW. Good luck CMB!
On October 11th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Grace College, Goshen College, IPFW, IUSB and Southwestern Michigan College will be in Whiteman gym for on-site admissions. Sign up in guidance for a time slot and make sure to fill out the application before your interview time. Colleges will be able to tell you THAT DAY if you are accepted! In honor of the Day of German Unity, this week will be German Club spirit week! Show your spirit for the German culture and language by participating in the spirit days, and win prizes at lunch!
- Friday: Black, Red and Gold Day (the colors of the German flag)
Mrs. Gomez Wengerd will be taking students on a college visit on October 27th to Goshen College! This is a first come, first serve opportunity with priority given to upperclassmen. See Mrs. Gomez Wengerd in guidance for a permission slip! They are due by October 13th.
Online yearbook sales are set up! All you have to do is go to www.yearbookordercenter.com and enter our school code (14723) to order your yearbook or yearbook ad.
Homework help is available every Tuesday and Thursday in the media center from 3:45-5:00 p.m. A bus will be available around 5:10 p.m. (5:20 p.m. on Tuesdays) if you need a ride home. It will pick you up at the south end of circle drive by the flag pole. This is a great opportunity if you just need a little extra time or even just a quiet place to do your homework at the end of the day.
IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week: Playing sports can be rewarding and frustrating. It’s actually a microcosm of life. You will always be faced with challenges and trying to come up with solutions to solve those challenges. One thing is for sure: there will be more delayed gratification than most prefer. During your freshman and sophomore year, your progress takes patience and time. Those small steps of improvement and development aren’t always rewarded. Can you remain patient? Most high school student-athletes won’t reach their full potential until their junior or senior seasons. It’s very challenging to wait for that opportunity. The competition gets tougher and tougher. The workouts are harder and harder. Those that make it through and end up participating in junior varsity and varsity sports will look back someday and realize more gratification and enjoyment than you ever experienced while you were participating. The lessons learned will influence you more than you ever expected!
Just a reminder that if you are coming to see Ms. Tovar we have a new procedure. You need to check in with the staff in the main office and fill out a request to see her. She will send a white pass for you as she has time. Please do not cut through the nurse’s office to get to her. You need to enter through the main office.

The GHS cafeteria is offering free after school snacks every day after school. This program is for any student who is staying after school. All student-athletes, club members, music participants, drama participants, after school homework help kids, etc. are strongly encouraged to stop by the cafeteria after school and take advantage of this generous opportunity. Students just need to show their ID and they can grab a healthy snack to go that will hold them over during their after school activities until dinner. The cafeteria will stay open until 3:55 p.m. to hand out the snacks.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club will meet every weather permitting Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45-5:00 p.m. on the administration field across from door M. You can pick up required papers from Lucas Kauffman, Mr. Snyder in the choir office or Mrs. Stealy in the main office. All required papers need to be turned in to Lucas Kauffman by the first time you play.
MEETINGS DURING SRT:
There will be a call out meeting for anyone (including Gmen) interested in Winter Season Sideline Cheerleading on Tuesday, October 10th during the 2nd session of SRT on the upper deck of the main gym. If you are unable to make the meeting please contact Coach Kristy by email kristy.sloan@goshenschools.org.
If you are a boy interested in wrestling this year we will have a pre-season meeting on Tuesday, October 10th during the 2nd session of SRT in the main gym. If you are planning to wrestle please attend this meeting. If you are unable to attend see Coach Pickard ASAP.
SPORTS SCORES:
The GHS girls soccer team ended their season last night with 1-0 loss to Northridge. The defense held strong for most of the night in a very physical contest. Madi Rittenhouse had six saves in goal for the RedHawks. The Goshen girls finish this season with a 10-4-3 record and third in the Northern Lakes Conference. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the girls this year!
IN SPORTS ACTION TODAY:
The boys varsity football team will play at Plymouth at 7:00 p.m.
On Saturday:
The girls JV volleyball team will play in the Memorial Tourney at 9:00 a.m.
The girls freshman volleyball team will compete in the Plymouth Invitational at 9:00 a.m.
The boys JV football team will host Plymouth at 10:00 a.m.
The boys and girls varsity cross country sectionals are at 10:30 a.m. at Ox Bow.
The boys varsity soccer team will compete in sectional finals at 2:00 p.m. at Elkhart Memorial.
The girls varsity soccer team will host sectional finals at 7:00 p.m.
